Upcoming Holiday Events

If your vacation to the U.S. Virgin Islands is coming up soon here are some Holiday Events you might enjoy! Everything from arts and crafts fairs, to musical venues including Jazz, Steel Pan and Reggae, to Carnival!

Christmas TreeArts Alive Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival: St. Thomas, November 27, 28 and 29, 2009. Visitors to the 29th Annual Arts Alive Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival will have the opportunity to find unique hand crafted items, explore their own creativity, view dynamic performances, and listen to the sounds of local musicians. Traditionally this popular annual event has been the place for early holiday shopping. The 3-day festival is held outdoors in the colorful, historic Tillett Gardens. The garden will be surrounded by inviting kiosks and tables full of one-of-a kind locally produced items. Festival hours are from 10:00am to 5:00pm each day. Admission is free.

21st Annual Holiday Starving Artists Day: St. Croix, November 29th, 2009. The Whim Museum grounds will come alive with local arts and crafts vendors for the 21st Annual Holiday Starving Artists Day and 2nd Annual Guavaberry Competition! This is a great holiday shopping opportunity for everyone – all items are locally made! The event showcases local artists, jewelers, craftspeople and their wares. Also enjoy Crucian food and drinks, local produce, children's activities, and live local music from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Emancipation ParkMiracle on Main Street: St. Thomas, December 11, 2009. Come join the great fun of Miracle on Main Street. Stores in downtown Charlotte Amalie stay open into the evening and offer great holiday sales and specials for this evening only. Starts at 5:00pm. Live music, food and drink booths, arts and crafts on sale, local dance groups and other performers.

All Island Holiday Party: St. John, December 12, 2009. Mongoose Junction hosts its annual All Island Holiday Party. The party starts at 8:00pm until 2:00am. Music is by St. John Reggae Band, Inner Visions. Residents and visitors are welcome! Come join the fun and celebration.

5th Annual St. John Christmas Music Festival & Children's Parade: St. John, December 13, 2009. The parade will start in front of Mongoose Junction at 6:30pm and go by the passenger ferry dock and up the street by Connections and right into Winston Wells Ball Field. Santa will then give out free presents to all the children in attendance in the Ball Field. At approximately 7:30pm the concert will start. This year's concert features some of the most talented High School Jazz musicians from St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix. Opening the show will be St. Thomas high school student Jazz prodigy sax player Malachi Thomas and his band JAZZ LAKE. Our headline act is The Central High School Jazz Ensemble from St. Croix.

Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra Christmas Concert: St. Thomas, December 13, 2009. St. Thomas' Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra will perform their annual Christmas concert at 7:00pm at Reichhold Center of the Arts. They will perform classical selections and traditional Christmas music that has been arranged by Rising Stars instructors and arrangers. Guest performances typically include School Choirs from local elementary schools. Come out and enjoy great music while supporting a wonderful youth organization – the Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra! Tickets for the event are $20 for covered seats, and uncovered seats are $15 and $10.

Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted: St. Croix, December 18, 2009. This monthly favorite takes place on Fort Frederik Beach at 6:00pm until 8:00pm. For the December concert come enjoy jazz with a little holiday flare. Mother Nature assists in providing the event with wonderful scenery, beautiful sunset and a cooling Caribbean breeze. Sunset Jazz concerts are free; bring a chair or a blanket. Please no coolers. You can buy food and drinks from the concert concession area. This is a great family event, and concert goers can enjoy the Frederiksted nightlife and restaurants after the show.

Crucian Christmas Festival: Its carnival time on St. Croix. This is a month long festival beginning on December 4, 2009 through January 3, 2010. The schedule of events includes food fairs, calypso shows, pageants, boat races, parades, village, caroling, j'ouvert and more.
