You can't get more on the water unless you are in a boat. Love the lobster spring rolls! Worth a visit.

I think it is like anything- sometimes it is more perfect than others. We have been to beaches all over and as far as the sand and water quality goes- it ranks with pretty much any of the mile long beaches- lovely. The set up is great for children- We have three- You can get food and they have waitresses who will wait on you while they play in the sand. A nice break for the parents. Be aware that you pay to get in and then you also pay for all the amenities. But they have anything you could need. Chairs are $5 a day and rafts are $10 a day- that sort of thing. A slice of really decent pizza is only $3 and they even have a really good salad selection. I can't really tell you much about the bathrooms- I have yet to find one that is awesome at any public beach, sadly. Or any resort beach accessed bathroom-just part of it. The best thing about the beach is just the beauty of the water and the absolute lack of feeling creeped at anything in it. That being said- snorkel somewhere else-but we take the masks and see little fun things so it is not boring. The kids love it. The cruise ship thing is what it is- it is keeping the USVI
places going. And all beaches, really, will have some cruise ship people. The boat folks are all really nice and having a fun day so even when ships are in and more people are there you can always get a chair and a nice place to sit in the shade. Since we have gone more than 4 times, I think a lot depends on the day (attitude s also key), but we have yet to have a bad time and I spend a lot of time just looking at the view and the amazing water color. The little gift/convenience shop is typically resort expensive but you can get sunscreen, swimsuits, anything you need. It has been Crazy windy this whole week and Magen's just stays calm and easy to be in. My one thing I have noticed is the staff at the restaurant just seems a little over it-civil but not super thrilled. Sure, you can imagine it is not easy to deal with, but that is one place some improvement could be made to make it even better. Overall- I think if you visit St Thomas and don't visit , it would be a shame.

Let me preface this review with the thought that I am a little reluctant to do so as I selfishly would rather this great cottage remain a secret! We stayed at Reef Bay cottage for 8 days in the end of Jan '12. Upon our arrival at the cottage we met Seng (our "hostess") who immediately made us feel at home and familiarized us with the cottage and amenities of the property. The cottage is set up perfectly for a couple with room for family or other guests with the optional downstairs suite. The cottage appears to be new and very clean, all the furnishings and decor are done very tastefully and in keeping with the caribbean theme. Another pleasant surprise upon our arrival was that a new deck had been built off the front of the cottage affording plenty of room to sit outside and take in the great views of Reef Bay (we had fun watching the surfers in the water of Reef Bay) and Rams Head.

This was undoubtedly the most well equipped rental we have seen in our many times renting in St John, no detail was missed from the toiletries in the bathroom (great outdoor shower) and coffee and seasonings in the kitchen (all high end new appliances) to all the necessities to use the new duet washer/dryer in the laundry provided on the lower level of the cottage. We were a little concerned when booking about the proximity of the cottage and pool to the main house, upon arrival the cottage is totally separate from the main residence and you enter the driveway to the cottage from a different road than the main house, you really are unaware of the main residence from the cottage thanks to the great landscaping and layout. Pool area (beautiful) is close to the main house up a stairway from the cottage, but privacy was never an issue as guests have exclusive use of the pool.

Other than checking in we never saw our hosts, other than a small issue with the water that was fixed immediately. I would absolutely recommend this cottage for a couple or more if renting the additional downstairs suite. The cottage is about 10 mins to Cruz Bay on paved roads, also great path to Reef Bay is a 5 min walk away. We have already re booked for winter 2013!

We have gone with Big Blue several times and each year look forwrd to coming back again.
This time Capt Mindy was at the helm and with an upgraded boat called Gypsea Girl. The best boat around in it's price range. Comfortable and spacious! With a nice sunbed for my wife and lots of shade for me and the kids. Capt Mindy is a top class captain and layed back island girl! She is very knowledgable and is obviously passionate about her work. She made us feel like family and took excellent care of us. Can't wait for next years trip. The whole family is still buzzing about our great day with Big Blue excursions.

We loved it there, and there is a mobile food van in the parking lot that has yummy local foods.

This restaurant was awesome. The food was top of the line, its a gourmet meal. Presentations was beautiful. Kept your tastebuds hopping. The restaurant is up a bunch of steps, but when you get there, the view of the harbor is so worth it. Very romantic. Service was outstanding. The chef is very professional and knows his stuff. Highly recommend this place, you won't be dissapointed. So glad we went here.
