U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel Property Updates

VInow.com is in the process of compiling a list of updates from all hotel operators in order to provide current 2018 information for all of them. We will continue adding the information as we receive replies from hotel management. See the following links:

Please Note: The list below is provided by the USVI Department of Tourism. It is an ongoing list which was started after the storms in September 2017. The Department of Tourism adds updates as they receive them from hotel operators, on a hotel by hotel basis. The last update was added on March 12th, 2018.

St. Croix


The Buccaneer
The Buccaneer welcomed back leisure guests on November 1, 2017.

Caravelle Hotel & Casino
Caravelle Hotel & Casino is open and accommodating emergency and relief workers. On April 30, 2018, the hotel will close to repair damage caused by Hurricane Maria and will re-open on September 1, 2018. The casino and Rumrunners Restaurant will remain open throughout the repairs. Chenay Bay Beach Resort
Updated January 29, 2018: The resort has been energized, cable TV has been fully restored, and the beach has been cleaned up. Although the restaurant hasn’t reopened there are great restaurants in close driving proximity to the resort. Visitors may inquire about existing reservations by sending an email to reservations@chenaybay.com or calling (340) 201-1309.

Club Comanche Hotel St. Croix
Club Comanche Hotel St. Croix reopened on September 26, 2017. Guests may contact reservations at 888-406-8030.

Cottages by the Sea
No part of Cottages by the Sea needs to be rebuilt; however, there are repairs and cleanup to be made. The property is waiting for electricity and water to be restored. Guests may assume that all future reservations after October 1, 2017, are secure unless advised otherwise. The property will contact guests if future reservations cannot be accommodated.

Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino
Updated: October 19. After a review of the damage to Divi Carina Bay, resort management has made the decision to reopen in May 2018, pending construction or supply delays. Please contact the resort via email at EC@divicarina.com for reservations booked directly on the website or by phone. Divi will reach out to travelers with the earliest arrival dates first. For reservations booked through a third-party provider, please contact them directly to cancel the reservation and determine their cancellation policy.

Please note: Divi Carina Bay Casino will reopen mid-December 2018.

Frederiksted Hotel
Open and accepting guests.

The Fred
The Fred made it through the recent hurricanes relatively unscathed. The planned opening date of December 1, 2017, has been delayed. Once power has been restored to Frederiksted the hotel is set to open its doors to relief workers but since the pool, restaurant and bar are significantly delayed, the hotel will not be prepared to accept regular guests until sometime after January 1, 2018. The Fred will provide updates related to the revised opening date as information becomes available. Hotel on the Cay
Updated December 14: Hotel on Hotel on the Cay is pleased to welcome everyone including tourists, relief workers and timeshare guests as of December 1. Kindly note that in addition to daytime restoration work expected through January, there is currently no pool access, and the independently-operated beach restaurant and bar are closed until further notice. The property appreciates your understanding as it makes the hotel even better. For visitors who wish to make a NEW reservation: please note that guest rooms are very limited through April 2018. Hotel on the Cay suggests booking early to avoid disappointment.

The Palms at Pelican Cove
The Palms at Pelican Cove is fully up and running, and is welcoming leisure guests to the property. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel at (340) 718-8920 or sending an email to info@palmspelicancove.com.

Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa
Updated February 8, 2018: The property anticipates reopening in the fourth quarter of 2018. At this point there is no official reopening date.

Sand Castle on the Beach
Sand Castle is open and ready to welcome guests. Beach Side Cafe is open daily. For more information, call: 340-772-8295.

St. John


Caneel Bay
The resort will be closed for the 2017/2018 season.

Concordia Eco Resort
Concordia Eco Resort is closed for the remainder of 2017 and 2018. When communications have resumed, the resort’s reservations team will contact travelers to refund deposits.

Estate Lindholm
Electricity has been restored (full AC, as well as refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms, and the pool is full and inviting), the landscaping is bouncing back with new growth and flowering bushes, and the resort is fully open. Guests can make reservations for the resort’s 15 rooms online at http://estatelindholm.com/reservations/ or by calling 340-227-4724.

Gallows Point Resort
Oceanfront property Gallows Point Resort is open and welcoming leisure guests. The Ocean 362 restaurant is also fully operational, offering exceptional dining experiences and stunning sunset views. Call 1 (800) 323-7229 for reservations.

Grande Bay Resort
Updated December 15: Almost all of Grande Bay Resort’s 35 privately owned units are accepting reservations for January 2018 onward. To book reservations, please visit www.vrbo.com.

The Residence Club suites are under repair and renovation. Currently Residence Club reservations through January 12, 2018 are cancelled and refunds processed. Please note this policy applies to Grande Bay Resort & Residence Club guests only.

Hotel Cruz Bay (Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel)
The property has been housing relief workers but also has vacancies for leisure guests. The hotel has power and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can contact the property at stay@hotelcruzbay.com or 340-642-1702. Guests may also reserve directly online via the hotel’s website: www.hotelcruzbay.com.

Sea Shore Allure
The property is open and welcoming guests.

The Inn at Tamarind Court
The Inn at Tamarind Court is closed. The property is in the process of rebuilding. Travelers who have made a deposit can send deposit refund questions to condon@comcast.net.

Westin St. John Resort & Villas
Due to the significant impact of Hurricane Irma, the recovery process for the Island of St. John and The Westin St. John Resort & Villas is on-going. The Resort will be closed until further notice. All reservations with scheduled arrivals through January 3, 2019 have been cancelled and no new reservations are being accepted at this time. The Resort will publicize any updates as they arise.

St. Thomas


At Home in the Tropics Bed & Breakfast Inn
The property is open and accepting new reservations, full power, A/C, pool and amenities are available. Reservations can be made through www.athomeinthetropics.com, by phone (340) 777-9857 and through Facebook (www.facebook.com/AtHomeInTheTropics).

Bellavista Bed & Breakfast
Updated December 18: The property is welcoming guests and all amenities are available with the exception of cable TV. Reservations can be made online through our website at www.bellavista-bnb.com.

Bolongo Bay
The property is housing guests in need and a multitude of workers trying to help others on St. Thomas. Anticipated re-opening date is June 2018.

Bluebeard’s Castle Resort
The property has sustained major damage, which is currently being assessed.

Blue Sandcastle Villas
The luxury villas in the Blue Sandcastle Villas portfolio are open to host leisure guests as well as relief workers. This includes: The Blue Sandcastle, Pavilions & Pools Villa, Villa Odeon, Salty Sway, and 20 additional properties, all of which have electricity and water. Emerald Beach Resort
The hotel has experienced cosmetic damage, and its phone and Internet systems have been down, but all major structures are okay. All guests have been evacuated and Emerald Beach is currently housing FEMA and other hurricane relief workers. The property will not be taking hotel guests until mid-November. Information will be shared as it becomes available.

Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort
The resort is closed until December 31, 2018.

The Green Iguana
As of February 6, 2018, repairs and renovations are continuing daily at The Green Iguana. As rooms are completed, availability will be added to the calendar. Travelers are advised to contact the hotel at info@thegreeniguana.com or (340) 776-7654 with travel dates. For reservations after March 1, 2018, online reservations are being accepted. The Green Iguana hopes to have a re-opening date soon.

Island Dream Vacations
(updated February 17, 2018)
Villa Viento, a luxurious 5 bedroom/5.5 bath on the Peterborg Peninsula of St. Thomas, has all amenities, including DISH TV, WiFi and air conditioning, and is accepting reservations.
The beautifully renovated Sapphire Beach Resort penthouse condominiums are totally operational, including cable TV, WiFi and air conditioning, and are and accepting reservations. The pool is open as well as Sapphire Bar & Grill.
Cowpet Bay East Resort is still undergoing restoration/repair, however the lovely two bedroom/two bath called Beachside Escape II had no damage and is functional except no cable TV. DVD players are provided in all rooms as well as a selection of DVDs. There will be construction throughout the resort until summer. The pool has yet to reopen but Caribbean Fish Market Restaurant is open for dinner and brunch on Sundays.

Lindbergh Bay Hotel and Villas
The hotel is open and accepting reservations. The restaurant and pool are still closed temporarily and shall be reopened by March 15th 2018.

Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove
As of February 16, 2018, the property has reopened. Owners and guests are able to enjoy the pool and hot tub, the beach has been cleared and is open for use, the pier is fully restored, the restaurant and Marketplace are open and operating and the resort activities department is operating normally. Crews will continue to work on landscaping and other projects, including building painting, throughout the resort over the next several weeks.

Olga’s Fancy
Located in Frenchtown, this 16-room property is open for leisure guests. Most repairs are complete, the hotel has working phone service, and power is being restored. Olga’s Fancy can be contacted at (340) 643-4247, and reservations can be made online at the hotel’s website: www.olgasfancy.com.

Point Pleasant Resort
The resort has reopened. Travelers can contact reservations@pointpleasantresort.com to book reservations.

Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas is temporarily not accepting new reservations. Efforts are underway to restore operations as quickly as possible. The resort is scheduled to reopen on January 1, 2019. Sapphire Beach Resort Condominiums
Updated November 7: The resort is need of power restoration and is in the process of clean-up and other rehabilitation. Pending the return of electricity, the property may be able to welcome guests around Thanksgiving.

Secret Harbour Beach Resort
Updated February 27, 2018: Secret Harbour will be re-opening soon! Renovations are coming along nicely so the resort feels confident about re-opening booking engine for reservations June 1 and beyond. Please book summer, fall and winter vacations now at www.secretharbourvi.com. Earlier dates may become available as restoration progresses. The restaurants are currently open for lunch and dinner and the dive shop is open 10-3pm. Please check here or the Facebook page for updates. Sugar Bay Resort & Spa

Windward Passage
Windward Passage is not hosting leisure guests. The hotel will begin renovations on March 30, 2018, with an anticipated completion date of late December 2018 or January 2019. The property will remain open during renovations to accommodate first responders, relief workers and business owners and in-transit passengers in need of a single night’s accommodations. Wyndham Vacation Ownership
Updated February 16, 2018: The following properties are expected to remain closed until March 31, 2019.

Water Island


Virgin Islands Campground
Virgin Islands Campground has been open for business and hosting guests since October 28, 2017. Power has been fully restored, and the ferry is running, including the 9 p.m. option.
