Sports in the Virgin Islands

St. Croix, Virgin Islands Golf

Bikes & Cycling

St. Croix has a healthy cycling community, shops rent bikes and bike tours are available. It is also home to an annual Half Ironman competition.  Bike tours are also available on St. John and Water Island.

Golf Courses

Play a round of golf on St. Croix. There is three courses on St. Croix: Carambola Golf Club, Buccaneer Golf Course and Reef Golf Course. Tournaments throughout the year attract resident and visiting golfers.

Horse Racing

One of the popular spectator sports in the islands is horse racing. Racing fans head to Clinton E. Phipps Race Track on St. Thomas and St. Croix’s Randolph “Doc” James Race Track.

Tennis

Tennis courts are available at most large resorts on each island. Public courts are also available. Plan your visit during a tournament and watch or participate.

Running / Walking

The islands are mountainous and sidewalks are limited. There are however popular spots on each island for walking and running. Active running associations on St. Thomas and St. Croix hosts runs and races throughout the year.

Sailing

A very popular pastime and sport in the Virgin Islands, you can go out sailing for fun on a day charter; or plan your visit around one of the regattas. There are yacht clubs on St. Thomas and St. Croix.

Swimming

Swimmers can enjoy doing laps on beautiful beaches. Races on St. Croix and St. John allow visitors and residents to test their skill in the water.
