Good Morning,

I believe your only option is to take the ferry from Cruz Bay to Jost but it only goes to Jost Friday, Saturday & Sunday and it leaves at 8:30. That is a direct ferry from STJ to JVD. You could do it on another day but you'd have to go thru Tortolla, clear customs then catch another ferry to JVD. If you take the STJ on Friday, Saturday or Sunday it's a direct to JVD, takes about 20 minutes, you clear customs right on the dock in JVD and you'd have the better part of the day to explore JVD. I believe the return to STJ ferry leaves JVD at 3pm.

Once on JVD you can grab a cab and have them take you over to Soggy Dollar (It's $5.00 per person) or if you are feeling energetic you could walk up over the ridge to Soggy, the walk would take you about 20-25 minutes. The cab ride is about 3 minutes.

Hope this helps!

The only day the Cruz Bay/JVD ferry doesn't run is Thursday - see link "ferry schedule" under "Quick Links" top right this page.

I stand corrected! That's new as it used to only be Friday Saturday and Sunday! Makes the planning even easier knowing you can go any day except Thursday!

Where excatly does the ferry from Cruz Bay leave from? Where the ferries are now, the National Park Dock area, elsewhere?

You have to go to the ferry dock near the national park. It's not at the National Park dock but pretty close! It's the white gated dock. There is a little white office. As you are standing on the dock to get the JVD ferry with your back to the office you are looking at the National Park building. It's across from the fruit stand and car rental agency.

Hello,
We just took the ferry last Friday to JVD. Make sure to get there 30 min prior to departure to fill out paperwork. When you get off in JVD you can walk around the road to your right and visit Foxy's before you hit the Soggy Dollar.. Its just a short walk.... intersting place! Was happy to see that Vic was still the bartender at Soggy Dollar.. he is a HOOT! Enjoy those painkillers.. happy

Does anyone know what ages are considered the "child" rate on the ferry from St John to JVD? We have one under 2 years old and are curious if she is also the $50 roundtrip fee. (We took her to JVD in September from Tortola, but she was free on that excursion for being under age 2)

Thanks in advance! happy

If nobody here comes up with the answer, call the ferry operator directly. The numbers are listed in the relevant ferry schedules under "Quick Links" top right this page.

if you want to go over to jost on a day that there is not a direct ferry from cruz bay over you can also take a ferry from cruz bay to tortola and the over to jost. takes a little longer but spending a day on jost is a must. hang out with mick and the gang at soggy, walk over to ivans and then finish the day at foxy's! have fun!
