Mountain Top is near mid-island, above Mofolie(?). Paradise Point is near the cruise ship dock. It's the one with the tram to the top.

Bassman is sort of right! big grin MountainTop is on Crown Mountain, West of town; the entrance to the Paradise Tramway is opposite the WICO (Havensight) cruise ship facility (East of town) and you don't have to take the tram as there is road access to the top. They're about a 20 minute drive from each other depending on traffic and time of day.

The two have completly different views however. Paradise Point has a beautiful harbour and sunset view. Mt. Top is down island and Magen's view, be forewarned, Mt. Top can be very chilly and windy at night, so bring a light jacket.
I always suggest going to both Paradise and Mt. Top, both are beautiful.

I know that Mountain Top burned down. From your comments STT Cheryl I assume they rebuilt it?

Yes, it was rebuilt, and reopened last year. Seems that the stores aren't nearly as nice as they used to be and are mostly offering souvenir type knick-knacks of the sort you can buy elsewhere for much less. But the view is as lovely as ever!

Did they rebuild the bar on Mountain Top? Should we spend some our short time on STT in Dec. to drive up for at least a drink?

What would Mountain Top be without a bar! big grin Probably a good spot to have a cold one and enjoy the view if you're driving around and have the time. Cheers!

Great! Mountain Top definitely has the BEST view on ST and well worth the drive! Thanks for the heads up on the merchandise. So sad, it was really nice before the fire.

Hi everyone, I think I mentioned it in my "mini" trip report, but felt I had to reply because right before I went I asked the exact same question as I was a little confused. This is just my opinion and I am sure everyones is different. My plan was to hit Mountain Top, the St Peter Greathouse and Botanical Garden, then Paradise Point. As you can tell with my "STT DRIVERS POST", lol, not all of that happened. So in short, ended up at the Greathouse first. It is several hundred feet lower than Mountain Top, but facing the same way. Mountain Top is free to get into, but once you get in anything else you want to buy is a cost. The Greathouse, again several hundred feet lower, is $8 a person. There are coolers out there with water and rum punch at the Greathouse. It says you can take one for free in the little paper cup. Side note I mentioned before, if you take one going in and one coming out it is not that big of a deal cool Please just do not stand there and hog up the rum punch, then you might get in trouble. To me the views from the Greathouse were 100 times better both from an eye view and high end camera view. The only thing I can think of that would explain this is that while Mountain Top is great, it is almost too high. Yes any camera can zoom and your eyes can be so digitally matrixed it does not matter, but my entire party noticed the difference. The Greathouse seems to be the perfect height for viewing this beautiful area! Lovely grounds as well that let you day dream in a past wedding or possible future wedding there. The only slightest, teeny, tiny complaint about the Greathouse is that the birds in the cages can be a little noisy. That is only the couple minutes you are around them though. So back to Paradise Point............ well, driving away from Mountain Top, and at this point I have no clue where we are, but I know we found a pull off overlooking one of the cruise docks. It was nice and pretty and great, but we then went and hit Smith Bay beach (WOW!) on the east side for a couple hours, then went all the way around south back heading west to downtown and saw Paradise Point and were like, "we already have seen so much, it is $26 bucks a person, probably nice, but already saw another view of the harbor with a cruise ship in port and definitely not worth the price". Now, the overlook we were at could have been the one to the west, I forget their names as I am a noob/first time visitor, but still, for the price and the views and atmosphere we are all REALLY HAPPY with the Greathouse by far!!! WHEN, not if, I am back again I would like to do the tram ride or drive up there just to see it. This was right at sunset as well and we had a car so could have drove up and after seeing the other two places and the pull offs it was not about money, but just throwing that factor in there. I will do Paradise Point at some point in my life, but after seeing the other places and pull offs (and SMITH BAY BEACH, WOW, lol), I have other priorities cool
