Greetings from North Carolina, all!

My brother and I will be arriving on STT in two weeks for our very first trip the VI and we're very excited! I have been persuing posts here and have learned a lot, so thank you all for the info.! I hope this doesn't sound too crazy, but I just wanted to throw it out there and see what people feel inclined to share........ You're in the VI for one week. What are your "musts"? (must see, must do, must eat, must drink, must not do, etc.) I know it's broad, but would just love to her how folks might prioritize things. happy

We are cultural tourists and definitely don't want to isolate ourselves. Also, I am a long time reggae fanatic and my brother is a musician, so we would love to hear tips on where to go to hear live music. And the irony of that? My favorite VI reggae band, Midnite, will be here in NC while I'm down there! LOL. happy

Many thanks in advance!!!

Here's a no-brainer MUST:
Take the ferry to St. John to visit Cruz Bay, a few of the beaches and the Annaberg Sugar Plantation ruins.

If you wanna spend a really nice time and eat great food... try out "Glady's Cafe"!!! Open everyday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
at Royal Dane Mall - West (STT). I really can recommend it!

Have a look at the homepage:

You must check out Naturallivity (or is it Natural Livity???) Restaurant, Juice Bar and Kulcha Shop which is not too far from The Lutheran Church in town. If there's any reggae music going on on STT, they'll have the scoop. Somebody's been doing some Roots Reggae nights every now and then, so hopefully there'll have one when you're here.

Where are you staying? I'm pretty sure Tickles and Tavern on the Waterfront have open mic nights. Sometimes there's spoken word night at Frenchtown Deli.

Carnival Night on Wed at Iggie's is a MUST. Sammy Watts is the musician, and he is awesome! Maybe he'll do some Bob Marley music, and you'll be blown away! Also Wed night at Paradise Point they have the famous Sunset Party with live music.

You'll definitely want to check out Coki Beach, because they play reggae and soca all day.

If you're coming in two weeks, will you be here on Sunday, April 29? If so, you'll want to go to the Rastafarian Farmers' Market in Bordeaux. It's only once a month, the last Sunday.

Thanks so much, y'all! I really appreciate everyone's help. I've heard about most of these spots and I look forward to exploring! Was definitely planning to check Kulcha Shop to see what's up and I'm VERY happy to know that the Rastas' Market takes place on the last Sunday (the day we're arriving). Have heard about it and seen many beautiful photos--will definitely check it out! Many thanks. Peace

Thanks so much, dano! I really appreciate the info. Hard to believe it's less than two weeks away! We're vegetarian, but I'll definitely share the nachos recommendation with others--I'm sure they're delicious! happy

That's Iggies at Bolongo Bay with the outdoor tables and hammock. It's a popular open-air restaurant & bar on St. Thomas.
