My girlfriend and I are considering traveling to St. Thomas this summer. The hotel we are looking into is the Marriott Frenchmans Reef & Morningstar Beach Resort. I have read some reviews that have me a bit worried but I am also skeptical of such reviews. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has stayed at this resort. Thanks in advance!

We have stayed there several times and have had bad and good. If you are going to stay at a Marriott property on St Thomas I would consider the Ritz (pricier though). We have done both St Thomas and St John and prefer St John Cruz Bay area by far......Highly recommend Gallows Point on St John. Stay on the Ocean side lower or upper.

I'm rather sceptical of outright bad reviews too and often find that the people who write them are habitual complainers wherever they go and whatever they do. I have to confess that I'm an advocate of the condo/villa experience over the resort experience but the Reef underwent huge renovations which were completed last year and the Morningstar units are scheduled for a big makeover I believe this year. I certainly would give neither location a thumbs down and only suggest that you rent a car for at least a good portion of your visit so you can get out and explore There's SO much to do and see here! Have fun!

We have stayed at Marriott every year for the past 10 years at least once per year. They did some renovations this year on the upper rooms and a new pool, restaurants, etc. I would say that it probably is overpriced if it was anywhere else, but it is st Thomas. You get a bit of a bigger room if you stay on the bottom at morning star and a bit more secluded if you will. Frenchmans reef is hotel style with all the rooms on top of each other. We love having coco joes bar for a few drinks after coming back in from dinner. I'm personally not a big fan of the beach there, but Rent a car and travel around.
