We have been enjoying our trip and have toured the island in our 4x4. It has been an awesome experience. At this point we would like to try something other than driving around the island or just laying at the beach. What do you recommend? We were thinking of sail tours but were told that most of them are not worth the price. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I couldn't disagree more that a charter sail isn't worth the price. For many it's the highlight of their vacation here and in my opinion is something which should be on everyone's agenda! Book one now!

A choice is very subjective but my picks are Independence, High Pockets, Morningstar, Jester and Winifred which all carry max 6 passengers; and Daydreamer/Coconuts who can accommodate larger groups. Check them all out and see which appeals to you but all have been around for many years and have excellent reputations!

This might b pretty far out there...but what about going to Buck Island? You need to get to St. Croix and there are company's that sail to Buck for snorkeling. I can't say much about it, but we do have it booked for our trip in 2 weeks. We are flying Seaborne airlines to St. Croix then sailing to Buck Island.

Going to St. Croix was on our "to do" list, and the buck island tour was a add on we did later. I sure hope it's not that bad.

@ruprt2 - there are several Buck Islands in the USVI. Two of them that are used heavily by day sailing charters to take visitors for several hours of snorkeling are Buck Island directly out from the cruise ship pier in St Thomas, and a different Buck Island off the coast of St Croix. I hope you have booked you sailing trip for the correct location.

I'm with STTRes, a long way to travel and extra expense to see almost the same thing as Buck Island off of St Thomas.

The sail I booked is from St. Croix island. Honestly I wanted to visit St.Croix for the Cruzan Rum Distillery. Rum is my drink of choice, and Cruzan is my favorite so thought it would be pretty neat to see this while we were in STT. We are in STT most of our trip and wanted to venture to the other islands so we didn't regret it later, we never know if we will be back again!

The hottest activity now is Stand Up Paddleboarding. I saw so many of them today! You can get lessons and rent at Magens, Hull Bay, Secret Harbor, etc.

You can ride a bike on Water Island.

You can ride a horse at Golden Age Ranch across from Smith Bay Park/Beach.

You can try scuba or SNUBA at Coral World or swim with sea lions.

You can try parasailing. Or jetskiing.

You can hike the Magens nature trail.

You can go to Paradise Point and ride the ferris wheel.

You can kayak either independent or on a tour with VI Eco Tours.

Have you toured St John yet? Take your vehicle over on the car ferry and explore.

Coral World has lots of activities and is fun for the whole family if traveling with kids.
It's fun even if you are not!
Lots to do at this one spot so be sure to include when visiting.
I love taking my friends and guests when they come to visit.
Then go for a swim at Coki Beach and lunch in Red Hook
The all day trip to the Baths in Virgin Gorda with a stop at Norman Island on the return for snorkeling off the "treasure caves" is also great.
Limnos does this and so does Breakaway, I believe. They also offer day trips to Jost Van Dyke.
STT offers a wide variety daysail trips. Both full and 1/2 days, fishing charters, kayaking, parasailing, scuba, take your rental car over to STJ for the day to explore. You can visit a different beach every day and not see them all.
There are lots of things to do besides just going to the beach or a bar.
We also enjoy the Butterfly Farm in Havensite, the Skyride, Mountain Top for the views, St. Peter Greathouse, to name a few.

When guests visit, it's fun to play tourist.

Limnos closed down a while ago, but there are others offering BVI day trips.

I was at Coral World two weeks ago, and it was fun! I try to go at least once a year. Make sure you go to all the feedings and talks, because they are what make Coral World a fun place.

i was bummed, coral world wasnt open the day i wanted to go because no cruise ships were docked at STT. plan to re-arrange your schedule sometimes!
