If you wanted to take the ferry over to St. Croix from St. Thomas and spend one night there, which hotel would you stay in (preferably close to the casino)?
The only hotel close to the Casino is the Divi Carina. Unfortunately, the hotel and casino are pretty far from everything else.
What ferry are you speaking of? Because there is no regular ferry between Stt & Stx, unless there have been new developments that I do not know about. Planes are the only form of transportation that I know of to travel between those 2 islands.
Maybe someone has more detailed information for you.

No ferry and no further news on its return. The government is working on canceling the agreement between it and the last operator (who doesn't even have a boat right now). Seaborne and Cape Air both offer regular flights between the two islands.
Sorry, I totally missed the ferry part.
Take the sea plane. "Seaborne Air". Sometimes they run screaming deals that include hotel. Car rental are availbe at the dock. But, phone ahead for reservations. Or if casino action is top on the list, plan an extra night in San Juan on your way home. Check the Condado area for casino hotels. Have fun.
That isn't the boat that wrecked on the rocks on New Year's Eve or was it Fourth of July, was it?
Yes, July 4th.
What does a trip on the seaplane cost you STT to STX?
Ruby,
The last time I checked, a few years ago it was about $140 RT.

Probably best to check with them directly as they frequently run specials:

I really wish Islander would delete the Stt/Stx ferry schedule. Or update that it is suspended until futher notice.
Please update!
Thanks!

Usually more effective to use the "contact Islander" link directly. You can find it under, "Board Rules and Help".
STT Resident, I did PM "Islander".
I hope the Stt/Stx VI SeaTrans ferry schedule is updated shortly.
There is NO ferry service between those 2 islands.

Yes, July 4th.
we saw that wreck in August 2011 and actually have pictures of it. Heard they were racing another boat or ferry. I can't see paying 100 bucks a person for airfare from STT to STX just to see the place. Until they get another more reasonably priced conveyance we will stay on STT or STJ. But it seems in the best interests of STX to get something cheaper going .. I mean, we want to take a trip, over and stay the night .. That's some good tourist dinero isn't it? .
Keep checking seabourns web site. I got a deal which included air and 2 nights at a nice hotel for $215. great deal.
The distance between STT/STJ and STX precludes any "cheap" way of traveling between the islands. That's one of the reasons the ferries don't last long.
STX is beautiful enough and interesting enough to warrant a week-long visit. I hope you will consider that in the future.
At first glance, the title "One nighter on St. Croix", had me wonderif the op was looking for a "casual" relationship? St croiX is a good choice for quick change of pace. Or, a longer, more fulfilling, visit too.
We are so in love with St. Thomas that we are afraid to try a week over on St. Croix -- what if we don't like it as much; how could we like it as much? That's why we just wanted to go over for a full day and night to see.
Just got back from a 2 day trip to St Croix (live on STT) - We loved it! A little bit different from St Thomas but in a good way. Everyone there is so nice. They dont take there tourism for granted so they treat you with respect, regardless if you are a local or tourist. Make sure you rent a car the island is much bigger but very easy to drive around on. They have some great local bars to watch the sunset - Coconuts is the best place to watch the sun set! You can go to the Captain Morgan and Cruzan Factorys which are both fun.We paid $112 each which was a great rate. I would suggest staying at the Divi it was a very nice place - had a massage on the beach there
Was the $112 each for the two day trip just airfare or did it include your stay at DIVI as well? I think DIVI is where the casino is -- I'd like to go there for a couple of hours.
It was $112 each for the airfare. We did not stay at the DIVI - we stayed at another hotel (wasnt anything to rave about so i will not suggest it was somewhere to fall asleep) the casino is at the DIVI but actually across the street. Its a great resort wish i would have spent the extra and stayed there.
