I've used Sprint over much of the island with good coverage in most areas, including the GPS feature. No roaming charges.

It depends on where you live/work/travel and which phone you like. Most people prefer ATT, but I have Sprint, because of their unlimited plan.

Sprint doesn't give rollover min. like AT&T.

If you use AT&T, do not use it unless it says AT&T. It can pick up British towers, and that is very expensive. You can always fight it when you get home, but fighting a $2,000 or $3,000 bill is very stressful after a wonderful vacation.

If the cell phone service provider you have at home happens to be ATT or Sprint (both of which exist in the USVI) then you could bring and use your cell phone. If you have another carrier it might work here too, but roaming with applicable fees.

You can get pre-paid non-contract cell phones on island from Radio Shack, Choice, maybe ATT... K-mart might have them too - not sure.

We used T Mobile on both St Thomas and St John with no charges. Both texting and calling were included in the US plan.
