Renting a private condo at point pleasant/ Have Questions

November 11, 2013 08:21PM

Hi all,
I will be renting a private condo at PP next year, and have a couple questions:
I know when you rent private you are on your own but was wondering if by staying here you have access to the following.
Can you jump on their shuttles to the beach or restaurants? I hear they have shuttles but not sure, do they?
Can you get ice somewhere in the complex?
How hard is it to catch a safari bus from there? Do they have a stop right there? How far is the walk from the gate?
Thanks for any info,
Scooby wink

They have shuttles that provide service for all owners and guests staying at the resort.
You have to catch the safari past the guard gate on the main road. Not sure if shuttles take you to the guard gate. You should ask the owner of the rental as they are best qualified to answer all your questions especially since you are renting from them. Enjoy

Hi Alana, thanks for the reply,
I am assuming the free shuttle means condo rental people also. Thanks. I know the owner personally but she just bought the place and is not sure of everything yet. And I like to do my own research to know for sure of things.
Anyone know what time the shuttles run? I heard they shut down early.
Like 7. That is pretty early for us. We usually are just going to dinner then. Like to soak up the sun as long as possible.

Still wondering about the ice thing if anyone knows if you can get ice for cocktails or coolers that would be great. Wondering if PP has ice machines available to everyone or just resort rooms/people.
Thanks all,
Scooby

PP has shuttle runs thruout the day. I believe they have a couple different places all over the resort (like mini bus stops) you can wait to pick them up and have posted times or hail one passing by. Being such a large resort, they must have places one can get ice. Maybe you could call their reception area to get more difinitive answers.

It gets dark here during the winter at about 6PM. (summer is 7PM) If you have a rental car, then you won't have to worry about the shuttles plus the safari's shut down by dark as well so you can't depend on those to get around at night to go off PP property for dinner or nightime entertainment. Taxi's will run you about as much as a rental if you expect to get back and forth to see the sights, explore the island and go shopping and daytime safari's (as far as I know) have no exact time table for passing by. Rent a car and come and go as you please, when and where you please. All PP units have assigned parking.

Scooby:

The current shuttle at Point Pleasant is NOT for everyone. The current resort management firm operates the shuttle and it's only provided to the guests and owners participating in the rental pool. All other guests and owners do not receive shuttle service.

The safari bus can be caught at the main entrance to the resort.

Bulk ice is not available for sale anywhere on the resort. You should have a refrigerator in your condo.

The walking distance from the front gate to your condo depends on what condo you're staying at. It could be anywhere from about 1/4 mile to about 3/4 mile (uphill and downhill).

The resort covers over 15 acres, has a couple of miles of roads, trails and walkways and consists of 23 separate buildings with 124 condos (villas).

Point Pleasant condos DO NOT have assigned parking.

If you need further information regarding Point Pleasant please PM me.

In my experience parking at Point Pleasant is difficult, at least in season. It isn't a case where you can pull up out front of your condo because the road is so narrow that only one car at a time can use it, and you would be blocking the road.

I have friends that live there and they park in their same spots plus I have used the shuttle to get back and forth when visiting so don't know if there is parking and shuttle "police" since I have never have encountered any in all my visits but Future Islander makes PP sound very "user unfriendly."

Alana:

I've owned a condo at Point Pleasant for 9 years. I just left the resort on November 2nd after spending 2 weeks there.

There are NO assigned parking spaces at the resort. I don't know what your friends are talking about.

Resort parking is provided in specified parking areas. And yes, during high season, when the resort is full, parking can be difficult, but there are sufficient parking spaces. Just like in Red Hook, during high season, parking can be a challenge....you might need to walk a bit to your car.

There is an issue with the shuttle at this time.....not everyone can use it. If you have used it recently, then your friends have a participating rental pool condo. The Board of Directors is working on a solution for all guests and owners to use a shuttle. The two (2) on property restaurants (Blue Agave & Panga) and spa (Point Wellness) will have shuttle service, also.

We are a very FRIENDLY resort!

Hi all,

Thank you for the info. thanks future islander I will PM you.

I have been going back and forth with renting a car. We have been to the islands before and just want to relax on this trip.
So we will be buying groceries and going to the restaurants on site. It would be nice if they provided a shuttle to the restaurants for dinner. I think it would help them for more business.

Either way, I don't mind a little exercise. lol

Thank you for the info.

Blue Agave must be pretty new, Is it in the location where Agave was, and can you tell us anything about the restaurant?

Thank you.

The Blue Agave will be in the same location as the Agave Terrace.

The Blue Agave will be an upscale restaurant. They already had their chefs flown in from New York City. Also, the restaurant will feature a separate cognac and cigar room just below the main restaurant.

The owners at Point Pleasant were treated to a private party on October 26th (following the owner's annual meeting) to sample the food and drink specials. The food was outstanding! The special signature drinks were unique and delicious. The island is in for a real treat! We owners can't wait for their grand opening on December 20th.

Panga, the newly renovated waterfront bar and grill just opened last Saturday (November 16th). Good food, good drinks, good company....poolside service and that incredible view!

Additionally, Point Wellness, the new spa at Point Pleasant is expected to open about the same time. The spa will offer hair treatments, massage, manicure/pedicure, meditation, yoga and other health & style related services.
