Hello Ginger,

There is a parking area set up for the ferry. If you are coming from Secret Harbor you might want to consider just taking a taxi to the ferry. Perhaps try for the 6pm ferry or make an afternoon of it and go over earlier to visit a bit on St. John.

Miracle on Main St. is 10am to 9pm. 10am, Arts, Crafts & Food Fair in Emancipation Garden. with over 50 exhibitors will display locally made arts, crafts, plants, fruits, vegetables and much much more. Shops are open extended hours with special sales. The parade of lighted boats beginnings at 6:30pm. Santa will visit the event and various choirs will be will be walking throughout town serenading the crowd.

Parking is limited downtown. I'd suggest going early, if you wait until early evening (when residents who might have been working get off of work and head to the event) parking is next to impossible to find.

Enjoy,

Miracle on Main St. - Parking

Another idea is to park in the Havensight area and take a taxi!

so many things to do!

sounds like a taxi is the way to go for miracle on main street no?
since parking is by the hour no? even if we get a spot i would not want the car to be in the crowd ....

is there some kind of prize for the best lighted boat?? and also the christmas tree lighting is there a special time for that?

sorry for so many questions......

see you there!

Now this is getting confusing since the original topic was St John! No Chritmas tree lighting for Mircle on Main Street as far as I know. For parking, the parking lot doesn't charge at night, but you won't find a spot anyway. People park illegally anywhere they can find.It is a parking madhouse, and not for the faint of heart. That is why I recommended taking a taxi. Pamela is in charge of the boat parade- don't know if they give out prizes, but the boats really take it to heart!!

Tree Lighting?

Could it have been at Havensight? I really don't remember one downtown??? The Havensight Mall also has a Christmas event with steel pan and all sorts of goodies- haven't seen it advertised so far.

Hello,

Ginger - the square... do you mean Emancipation Park? If so than yes there is usually a Christmas Tree put up close to the Bandstand area at Emancipation Park. I don't know when exactly they do the 'official' lighting of it though.

The Christmas Tree lighting East Ender is referring to is in Havensight Shopping Center. It is another event worth going to; more shopping, live music & entertainment, crafts & food for sale, Santa. wink

East Ender & Ginger - The date/time for the Havensight Christmas Shopping Event/Christmas Tree Lighting is Wednesday, December 7th from 6-9pm.

Enjoy.

Hello Laura,

That's a great question. Both are available; you'll find fake trees in K-mart and other stores as well as decorations. Live cut trees are brought in from the states; some garden stores sell them and sometimes the trailer is set up roadside and a big sign saying Christmas Trees for sale is stuck next to the trailer. This usually happens in a spot close to stores... ie. in front of the dry cleaning shop in Tutu (St. Thomas) which is basically accross from the mall. Also live Norfolk Island Pine trees are available at garden stores. And a few people still seek out the traditionally used trees; inkberry and century plant.
