We arrived at the Sapphire Beach Resort last night (5/16/11) and are staying until next Monday. It has been raining (torrential rain) almost constantly, since we arrived and is supposed to rain 24/7 for our entire stay. 🙁

Can anyone offer suggestions of fun things to do, considering there will apparently be no good weather for us while we're here? We're going to visit Coral World tomorrow and probably shop at Charlotte Amalie this weekend, but what else can we keep ourselves occupied doing? I know if it's a gentle rain, we can still snorkel, but the rains have not been gentle as of yet.

This trip is my graduation gift to my daughter, who just graduated from high school on Sunday. I'd like for it not to be a complete washout and waste of time & money. I'd appreciate any input anyone can provide!

The weather here at home is really bad. I am desperate for some sunshine. We are leaving here on Saturday for our first vacation in four years. I think I will lose my mind if it rains the entire trip. I do not enjoy rainy days on vacation. I am not seeking rain. Should I cancel my trip?

We arrive on Saturday as well. The thought has never crossed my mind to cancel. Just remember to bring your sunscreen! You will need it.

We would all hate you to lose your mind and hope that, if you do so, it won't be on island as we have limited resources where mental health facilities are concerned!

Guess poster Otterpup hasn't had a problem since there's been nothing from him/her since a little after midnight on the 17th when it was indeed raining. The 18th dawned beautiful and remained so. Late night the 18th more rain, this morning started off overclouded but no rain and it's still partially cloudy but no rain and the sun keeps poking through. Nice breeze, no worries. This is on the East end of STT and, as has been said many times before, it can rain in one small area and not in another wherever your vacation home base is located. Do stop fussing!

STT Resident--I like your attitude. My wife and I will be arriving on the rock next Tuesday and all I've heard is how depressed shes getting just thinking about it raining the entire week of our vacation. Having lived in St. Thomas for five years, mostly on the east end, I'm aware of the vagaries of rainfall in the islands. Hope Otterpup is getting some sunshine...sure will be interesting to get an update from him.

Duct tape works well if you're tired of hearing the moaning and groaning. Just put a little hole in it center-mouth so a straw can be inserted and used to take in a few rum punches which are great stress-relievers ... 😀
