Fellow Islanders of STT, STJ, & Water Island,
I have reached out to FEMA, The Dept of Homeland Security, The US Military branches, The Dept of Human Services, Customs and Border protection, all senators and political leaders within the VI and those outside of the VI, and several smaller relief organizations, to plead to bring the US Military to the islands to handle the safety and security of the citizens of the Virgin Islands.
I have been super-active in pulling every resource I know to not only help those who I know have lost everything, but those people who are having medical emergencies to leave the island as quickly as possible. I've got several people who have helped me from Puerto Rico in shuffling people on and off boats who are medically in danger.
I'm now turning my efforts to secure the physical safety of not only those residents who need to me step up as a landlord at my property, but for those people who are now staying at my place who have been displaced due to the hurricane.
I'm moving several of those displaced people off the island and will have some room for some families soon in my building.
For those reading, plead with all of your government contacts to bring the US Military to the island. Bringing justice and safety to our already battered neighbors and friends should be where we shine.
PLEASE HELP TO BRING THE MIGHT OF THE US GOVERNMENT HERE TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY by asking each of those agency leaders to act instead of talking. We're tired of the rhetoric of politics. Do something and act now to help!
I thought the National Guard was there? They are the US military for handling domestic problems.
The national guard is here, but they're local and may or may not stop certain activities. Being an islander, you see everything which is not always above board and just because a national guard uniform is there, that's the nearly same as a VI cop... anyone can read about the previous cops and public officials who haven't kept their duty to the people and you never know what they'll do in the name of their view or their righteousness. Pure blind justice and equality in treatment regardless of the circumstance should be the right way of handling these situations.
Yeah I know about corruption in the VI, I grew up on STT. I remember during Hugo then police chief of St. Croix Adelbert Bryan was charged with looting by the FBI. Wonderful man, that was made a senator after looting during Hugo and after shooting his son, in the back, to death.
