My husband and I are staying at the Westin on STJ. I know they offer a ferry, but am not sure it is the easiest route to take and most cost effective? We are renting a car on STJ, so do not need to shuttle it over form STT. What are the other options and how far are they from the airport? Can anyone offer any advice on this? I've heard bad things about the different ferry services, but I personally can't comment b/c I've never tried other options, so any help would be greatly appreciated! We are going the week of Thanksgiving! Only a few more days...whoo hoo!

First of all you lucky dogs enjoy St John, we used the Westin ferry. I believe you can pay one price and use it as many times as you want. You meet in the airport baggage claim for the Westin, they bring you over to Crown Bay which is beautiful, have some drinks at Tickles Dockside Pub as you wait for the ferry, and when you arrive at the Westin you get more drinks...................Contact the Westin to confirm your reservations for the ferry.................... ENJOY

You might consider pricing renting your car in STT and just take the ferry over to STJ - it's only $40 round trip for your car and everyone in it (including luggage :-)) You'd save the cab fee and it will be much easier. Have fun!

When we stay at the Westin, we generally use the Westin ferry if the timing works out for us. We also like the process of having lunch/drinks at Tickles while we wait for the Ferry. The Westin Ferry costs $50/person each way. That is more than the public ferry, but after you factor in the cab rides on both ends, the ferry and bag costs, its not that much of a difference, and if the timing works out, its very convenient.

If you do end up taking the Westin Ferry, I suggest renting with O'Connor Rental Cars as they have cars available at the Westin. Their cars and service are basically on par with everyone else's on island and its very convenient to simply go down to the Tennis Center and pick up your car. Returning it is a breeze as well.

We ended up taking the Westin Ferry which was super convenient. They treat you so nice and walking around by the shops and grabbing lunch overlooking the water was so nice. They take care of your bags, take you from the airport in an air conditioned shuttle bus. It worked out perfect!

We also used the rental car directly at Westin which was so convenient as well. We had a GREAT time. I miss it already and am already looking forward to going back!!

lovinlife,
We are staying at the Westin at the end of this month, and I am running into the same dilemma. To rent on STT or STJ? Then, which ferry, Westin or Red Hook? Or if we rent on STT, getting to the car barge in time since our flight lands at 4:40??

I was wondering, when you rented from the car company at the Westin, was there a minimum number of days?

Thanks!

The best way to STJ from STT.....

1. On Kenny Chesney's boat at sunset with a cooler full of cold beer while Kenny sings a few tunes to get you in the mood.
2. Riding bareback on a killer whale
3. Sprout wings and soar with the gulls
4. On a Coast Guard chopper shooting machine guns out the side doors just for fun
5. On Jet-Skis
6. With a transporter - "Beam me to the Westin Lobby, Scotty"
7. Borrow a smugglers speed boat for a quick ride over, then sink the boat at the dock to cover up the evidence.

Anything else is as necessary compromise.
