My fiance and I think we are going to get married on one of the islands, but are having a hard time deciding. Our guests will be international (mostly from South America and US). We love the outdoors, want beautiful beaches, but also other things that we can do during a week and a half. We are laid back, but love adventure. Any suggestions??? Thanks!!

Any of the Virgin would be great for you. Here is plug for the Buccaneer on STX. www.thebuccaneer.com. I work there and we do a nice wedding.

My vote would be for St. John. A number of the beaches in the National Park on St. John are incredibly beautiful. As a National Park the area is not developed.
On the right day and time you could have the beach mostly to yourselves for the wedding.

I will make your decision worse.

If your people are coming from South America they will need to stop in San Juan and then catch a flight to either St. Croix or St. Thomas then you will need to catch a ferry to St. John.

I would vote for two locations on ST. Thomas. The first is Magen's bay. It is very quiet there and very beautiful. The second place would be Sapphire Beach. This is the most beautiful beach on STT. The disadvantage is that it can be windy. But you can get lodging either at Sapphire Beach Resort or Crystal Cove.

But when it comes down to it, every island is beautiful and the wedding will be fine.

My daughter had an early morning wedding on Megans Bay. Just beautiful after the sunrise, still comfortable outside and the beach had very few people on it. We used Weddings the Island Way and they were great. Congratulations, and whatever you choose it will most certainly be beautiful and memorable. Laura

Here is a site which has pictures of weddings at various locations so you can judge for yourself.

my favorite would be Lindquist Beach for the seclusion factor. Sapphire is pretty but can get VERY crowded and the same holds true for Magens.

My son was married at noon on Linquist Beach on St. Thomas in December 2009. I would highly recommend it. All the guests stayed a week at Secret Harbor - great beach and accomodations, an on-site restaurant, and close to Red Hook. Stuart Scott officated and was very helpful. We hired Air Force One for the day (9am-4pm) to get everyone to the beach, then to lunch, then an island tour. It was a fantastic wedding and a great trip for everyone. If I had another wedding to plan, I would do everything exactly the same. Good luck with your planning.

I dont have a suggestion for who to do your wedding through but if you want beautiful beachs ,layed back and small town feel St john will blow you away.I wouls say the extra travel will be worth the effort (15 Minute ferry ride.If stay at certain resorts they will pick you up on St. Thomas water front and take you directly to St john avoiding 15 -20 minute taxi ride to east end St thomas to catch ferry. There are excellent Wedding Services on St John .I have been on a number of beachs by myself most of the time.

I am in the process of planning a wedding for a stateside couple being married on St.Croix. The rehearsal dinner is on St.John and have planned 10 days worth of activities for the families and wedding party. All of the islands have much to offer and it really depends on what you are looking for and what your budget can handle. I can say that this has been the most fun (and somewhat challenging) wedding to plan in 17 years in the business. If you'd like to know more particulars, contact me via this sight. Good luck no matter which way you choose.
