St. Croix Landmarks Society (SCLS) is pleased to present the 24th season of Candlelight Concert Series at Whim. This year’s lineup includes internationally acclaimed classical musicians and world class performances in an acoustically rich setting of the Estate Whim Greathouse under the magical ambiance of the candlelight chandelier.
This season SCLS present the following season of fabulous performances:
November 13th & 14th, 2009: Carolyn Banham, Horn and Michael Linville, Piano. Performing works by Bach, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Hindemith and others.
December 18th & 19th, 2009: The Klemperer Trio: Erika Klemperer-Back, Violin; Gordon Back, Piano and Ron Crutcher, Violoncello. Enjoy a romantic evening of classical music by Haydn, Dvorak and Brahms, among other greats.
January 8th & 9th, 2010: The Copenhagen Chamber Ensemble Performing works of Handël, Telemann, Roman, Niels W. Gade, Erik Norby and Ibert.
February 5th & 6th, 2010: Ira Spaulding, vocals and Chika Jenkins, Piano. Songs from the “old world” (Brahms & Handel) and the “new” (Copeland & Negro Spirtuals).
March 12th & 13th, 2010: Bjorn Ranheim, Cello and Calin Lupano, Violin Virtuosic duos for violin and cello by master composers Ravel, Kodaly and Bartok.
April 9th & 10th, 2010: Katherine Collins, Violin and Paul Vasile, Piano. Musical program includes a selection of works by Mozart, Brahms and more.
Friday and Saturday night concerts commence at 7:30p.m. The SCLS Café Bar and Museum Store will be open at 6:30p.m.before the performances as well as during intermission. Reservations are highly recommended as seating is limited. Ticket prices for both Friday and Saturday nights are $40 for St. Croix Landmarks Society members and $45 for non-members. Meet the Artists after the performance on Saturday nights, light refreshments to be served.
