Hello all!

We will be arriving in St. John this Sunday through April 10. Just wondering what the rain situation has been/will be and if we need to worry about a mosquito "bloom". Thanks! (we do have spray packed! :P)

What kind of spray do you use? we are heading there May 4th and I'm not sure what the best bug spray to buy is.

We bought Cutter's (with 30% DEET) and also some repellent wipes. After Bite also! Not sure what to expect but we are prepared for the worst! I am highly sensitive to no see um bites (and mosquitoes) so that's why I was asking what it's been like lately, but so far no one has responded 🙁 Anyway, have a great trip!

We've had rather more rain than usual for this time of year and I've noticed an increase in "young" mossies in the last couple of days which is typical after rains when the hidden eggs hatch. So, yes, be prepared! Where the sand fleas are concerned, they're here year round so just stay off the beach as sunset hits as that's when they start coming out. As far as what the mosquitos will be like a few weeks from now there's no way to even hazard a guess, just be prepared all the time. This is the tropics!

Off works well. Spray your feet and ankles before heading out to dinner. If there is sand on the floor of the car, there are noseeums on the floor of the car. Never drop a sandy towel or beach bag on your bed. -fyi.

I would also make sure and pack Hydrocortisone Cream or your favorite brand of anti-itch cream for bug bites, just in case you get bitten.
