Just buy repellent.
I live in Northside STT.
My sliding glass doors including the screens, deck and courtyard doors are always open for dogs to come and go. I rarely have mosquitoes. Noseeums like dawn and dusk.

Considering the amount of rain we had last month I'm surprised they're not swarming. Mosquitoes do carry Zika, Dengue and Chikengunya, all of which all Caribbean Islands have including the USVI, so best keep protected.
Please use reef and coral friendly sunscreen.
