GOOD EVENING! Ok, here is the deal. I am arriving late to STT and took the one night at Carib Beach. There is no reason at all I need a car that night, trust me 😀 I am making a reservation with Hertz right this second for THE NEXT DAY AT 10 A.M. My problem is I swore I read somewhere that at the STT airport all of the car rental agencies are located at a section in baggage claim/plane landing where either 1) you cannot get to them at all, or 2) you have to go through all the customs stuff again just to get to the car rental places if you are not on an arriving flight??? Is this true??? I was trying to call their direct local number and of course it rang and rang forever and no one answered so figured I would check here. To sum up, I want to wake up at Carib Beach, check out, walk over to the airport and pick up my car WITHOUT going through a big hassle or customs and custom forms and all of that. Is this possible??? I forget what forum I read about this happening, but know I heard it and was just concerned. Not that concerned, but if it is going to waste an extra hour or two of my time I would definitely like to know 😛 THANKS!

Let me rephrase my #1 😀 You cannot get to the car rental places at all unless you are coming off of a plane. Does this sound right? If so I have never seen this in the mainland and just want to make sure it is correct. If it is correct I can just add the extra day for the car/jeep, but the timing makes no use out of the back end of the trip so it is like I am just throwing away $100 plus I could spend on STX.

You will be able to get to the car rentals easly enough. you don't go through customs to get to baggage claim.
It's around the corner, to your left, as you enter the terminal and pass the rum lady offering free shots. so enjoy your short walk! If you have checked luggage you'll understand 🙂

No worries!!! Remember --- settle down - you're on island time! As wenchtoo said, once you land and see this wonderful small airport, you'll know exactly where to go to get your car. No Customs. You might just look at arriving flights for that morning and make sure you aren't showing up right when a couple flights are getting there. The car rental lines move SLOW. If you can get there between flights, you'll spend much less time in line (and much more time having island fun!).

Good Luck! Have Fun!
