Which Island and what dates? We have a 4 bedroom vacation rental home, Flamingo Point USVI, on the southwestern-most tip of Water Island. Weekly rate is $2,200. Our home is a "split" plan with 2 bedrooms/1 bath on the south side of the home, 2 bedrooms/1 bath on the north side of the home, and the Great Room in-between. You'll find a wide wrap-around porch with access from 3 of the 4 bedrooms via 8 foot sliding glass doors. Surrounded on 3 sides by the Caribbean Sea. Send a Private Message and I can send more information and pictures.

Have you looked at www.vrbo.com for availability? That would be a good place to start and is an easily navigable site where you enter your parameters and dates and up will pop the selection.

That's a deal! Pool? How far from the ferry?

Hi Blu4u! No pool but we're 1/4 mile away from Honeymoon Beach and just a tad further to Water Island ferry/Phillips Landing. Distance on a small island won't matter because we also make available if a guest choose the "Flamingo Warrior" which is a 4x4, crew cab truck with safari in the back. The vehicle is available to registered guests who are licensed and insured drivers 26 years of age or older. There's no additional charge for the truck which will serve as transportation on Water Island only. There is a charge for any gas consumed. Our property manager, a full time resident on Water Island, tops off the tank prior to arrival and once the guests depart, tops off the tank again. In this way we determine how much gas was consumed during the stay and we passthru those costs to the guest. On average, guests staying for a week use 6 gallons of gas. Our Property Manager’s costs have been coming in around $6/gallon. So, average cost of gas for a one week stay has been $36.00.

PM me for additional information. Thanks!

There are many houses on VRBO to select from. Take a look at http://www.casablancavi.com Very roomy, well located and reasonable.

You still have not told which island nor a time frame. That would be very helpful.

I'm also confused. Many people (a) decide upon which island; (b) go to sites such as vrbo or homeaway and narrow down their options; (c) check reviews; (d) if in any doubt, go to a forum and ask for more opinions/advice. This remains all too vague to offer any more meaningful suggestions. :S

Sorry, I forgot the island. I am leaning toward St. Thomas, but am considering St. John also.

OK, I will bite.

You seem to want locals and/or frequent visitors to spend the time and energy to type out a listing of our favorite locales and recommendations, and yet you are too lazy to 1) tell us where you are looking or interested in (east end, north side, CA, St. Thomas, St. John, Cruz Bay, Coral Bay, etc..) 2) WHEN you want the rental ('cause it makes a difference), and 3) what sort of amenities are you looking for.

Please tell us a) where, b) when, and c) what is important and I am sure that you will get many recommendations. I have been 4 times in the last three years, and I am headed back down in three weeks....I have found all of my own accommodations and transportation; I actually enjoy personally doing the research and digging...it gives me a sense of accomplishment when all of my "best laid plans" come to fruition.

Look at all of the "sponsored" accommodations on the tabs at the top of this page.
I have used VRBO for years with great success; just look at a bunch of different options...the "gems" are there for the taking.
Get on the phone and call the property managers; if you feel like you aren't getting straight answers, just go to another property.

Good Luck, and enjoy your trip!

Blu4u, regarding the reviews on VRBO/Homeaway, I cannot speak for any other owners but the reviews associated with our home are taken word for word from the little black notebook that I leave at the house and ask that our guests leave us their feedback. Or, our home's reviews are posted online directly by our guests. I don't edit or modify in any way the guests' reviews.

I have done research and have a couple that I am looking at on vrbo. I just thought I would get ideas from this site too! 🙂 After reading reviews, I think that we would like the Red Hook area more. Reviews seem to think it is more of the local feel. Is this right? We would like to travel mid May. Our dates are flexible at this point. We need 3 bedrooms and would like for the accomodations to have a pool.

Why a pool? You're 15 minutes away from the beach, no matter where you are on the island.

// had a pool when living on STT, almost never used it.

Unless you're staying in an all inclusive, I would think you'd get "local feel" just about any area of STT, STJ, STX, or Water Island. I know that many people do prefer to have a pool and there's nothing wrong or incredible about that. Folks can often get overwhelmed with the wide variety and choices for accomodations. You may consider making a spreadsheet, putting across the top those things that are important to you and your family (pool, view - sunset? sunrise? Caribbean Sea? Islands?, Marina?, # of private bedrooms or will someone be sleeping on a pull-out sofa/futon, # of bathrooms, full kitchen, internet, Sat TV, price, etc.). That may help you narrow your choices and assist in your decision. Whereever you stay, you're going to have a wonderful time. Good luck in your search!

Hi AggieMom,

I own a newly renovated 3BR/3BA rental villa on the East end of St. Thomas at Cowpet Bay. It is just steps from the beach, has beautiful views and there is a large public pool and Jacuzzi on site. While it normally rents above your budget, as it is new on the rental market we are running a grand opening sale until 1/31 that brings the price below it at $2700 for 6 people.

To get more information please take a look at http://www.calypsorealty.com/for_rent.html?PropertyID=10 and talk to our rental manager Carlene at 340.774.1620

Kind regards,

Rob

I have narrowed it down to Villa Montana vrbo 259930 or Paradise Dream Villa vrbo 260196. Does anyone have any info on these two?

Villa Montana is on the South shore and closer to town.
Paradise Dream Villa is located closer to Red Hook so more options and less of a drive to east end beaches, ferry, shopping, bars and restaurants. Both look lovely.

Both have lovely views in the day time. Nighttime views would probably be more interesting at Villa Montana. I agree both properties look spacious enough to accomodate your crew very comfortably, beautifully appointed and you have your pool!
