I love to try local beers when traveling... microbrewery type beers. It's fun to try different stuff and some of them are excellent. Are there any USVI beers... beers brewed in the VI? I've heard of Carib.... where is that brewed? I can't get it here in Canada. Any other caribbean brewed beers available on STJ?

If this thread goes on much longer, it may break a record? Cheers to the Board and may the best brew win. Now about the available wines.....

crickett,
we go the last week of June each year and the VI Pale Ale had just arrived last year. Most of the restaurants had it as well as Starfish (stacks of cases). It should be easy to find.

And for you beer geeks, Starfish had Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale (10%) and was selling it for SN Pale Ale price. Don't think they knew what they had 🙂

Have you tried asking the liquor manager at Dierbergs, if its possible they will usually try to get it for you.

Great thread ;). If you go over to St. Croix the Fort Christian Brew Pub is worth stopping into for a few rounds. If you check their website http://www.fortchristianbrewpub.com/beer/beer.html it gives a little description on the VI brews including a couple of those mentioned already.

Cheers!

The West Indies Porter sounds great... but then again, I love a good dark beer. Does anyone know if it's available on STJ... either served at a bar/pub or 6 pack take out?

This thread rocks!!!

It's nice to hear that a lot of fellow VI-lovers enjoy something other than Corona or Bud Lite! I can personally vouch for the Blackbeard Ale and VI Pale Ale (love PA hops!) - can't wait to try Foxy's; plan to make a mission out of it in July!

Karrieb - Buzzards Bay Brewery is awesome, as is Sam Adams. As far as local brew go, what do you think of John Harvards??? Gotta love it!

Keep the Good info coming!!!

John Harvard's is the brew pub in Harvard Square right? If that's what you're talking about, its great, we've been a few times and loved the choices of brews. BTW- did you know that the Buzzards Bay Brewery is run by one of the sons who own the Westport River Winery? The brewery is at the far end of their property. Its a great day trip to visit both the winery and the brewery, we've done it alot, picnic lunch etc.

Originally from N.J., been in St. Louis since 1968, lived in Ballwin, Manchester and we now live in Chesterfield. This has been a great place to raise our children, but we are beach people, so we have spent alot of time driving to the east or south coast. We spent our honeymoon in STT, and didn't get back until about 4 years ago,and have gone back every year since, my favorite place in the world. We have traveled alot and the USVI's are the best!

Yes - JH's is in Harvard Square; one of my personal favs with great food as well. I did not know about the Westport Rivers Winery connection, but just googled and it looks like a place I absolutely HAVE to visit!!! Thanks so much for the tip. When we can't be in the islands, we must make the best it, right? 😉

Hi again ,you are so right, if we aren't there, we're here, dreaming of there (which is why I'm here AGAIN while husband and son watch the Patriots- we can hear the fireworks from the stadium going off!) Anyway, Westport River Winery, ain't nuthin' like anything in STJ but if you go to Rt 195 heading towards Fall River, then go down Rt 88, heading towards Horseneck Beach, you'll see a sign to take a left for the winery, way down the road on Rt 88, same intersection has a small burger joint on the right. The winery/ brewery is about 2 miles maybe down that road. The Russell family owns the whole place and puts alot of their profits back into preserving Mass farmlands. Great people, great wines, sparkling wines, and beer/ales. Wicked good as we all say!
