I am planning my wedding for May 2009 on a Saturday. I originally wanted to go with Magen's Bay, but I am worried that it will be too crowded. What other beaches are nice and not too crowded in St Thomas for a wedding? Any help is appreciated. I would like to have the ceremony and reception or at least hor dourves on the beach. I can change the reception to another location if its best. TIA!

Well I have seen a few very pretty services at Sapphire out on the point
with the reception right there

Cowpet over by Elysian would be a nice spot and Roberts is right there also

It's not on STT and I know you only asked about alternatives for STT but......WI/Honeymoon Beach is very close by. Many weddings have been there. beach faces west so sunsets are beautiful. pavillion on the beach. Heidi can do catering. There will be some additional logistics getting to/from for you and your guests but it's an idea anyway. Congratulations on your wedding!

My sister got married on honeymoon on st. john. It's absolutely beautiful and very few people there. they only allow 1 wedding there per day I believe, and you have to go through caneel bay and the national park system to be able to be married there, which may keep people away, because of the hoops to secure the beach

I thought we were limited to STT
Is STJ an option?

Best time for a Magen's wedding is either early (9 or 10 am), or later (4 pm).
There are many beach choices, Lindquist being a new one!

My husband and I were married on STJ in 2005 at Trunk Bay. We wanted a sunset wedding...so we arrived at 4:00, had the ceremony, had time for pictures before lighting became too much of a problem. By that time of day most people were gone and we had no problem with other guests. We used a spot on the far left side of the beach (when facing the water). There is a area over there that is private and really beautiful. I love looking at my pictures!

Congratulations and good luck with your plans!

You can get married anywhere as long as it is USVI. You aren't limited to St Thomas.

I got married last month on Magen's Bay Beach and it wasn't crowded at all. You need a good planner who will help you with all those details. I used Paradise Bridal Consultants. My wedding was fabulous and I am extremely happy with my decision. Contact Angela, she will help you. [email protected] http://www.stthomasweddingpackages.com/

My husband and I were married in the islands (Antigua to be exact). I am a photographer by profession, and trust me, nothing makes for more beautiful photos that being married on a Caribbean beach! I had two photographers and we took photos for about an hour and a half after the ceremony. My poor hubby was such a good sport...he shaves his head and despite the sunblock, by the end of the photos, his head was quite red. 😎 But, we have fabulous photos to remember that wonderful day! Best wishes and good luck.

OK Tom,
What is this all about!!!!!?????

Weddings the Island Way has a Hans Lollick Helicopter package. This is for only the 2 getting married in most cases! Sue, is this who you went thru? They are the only wedding company that I know of that has this package.

Yes Tom, this is how this works. The wedding coordinator, Minister, Photographer, and videographer all go over to Hans Lollick prior to the wedding couple and we get set up with a table, Champagne, cake, flowers....whatever! The couple are picked up by Limo from wherever they are staying or cruise ship and brought to the Helicopter. Then they fly over to the Island to be married. After all said and done, they leave and then the Helicopter comes and picks up back up! A wonderful, very romantic setting to say the least! If there are people on Han Lollick, then we go over to Little Hans instead! The island all to them selves (almost)!!!!!! 🙂 OOPS!!! I forgot, the guests are the Donkey's that are over on Hans....Have to watch out for that cake! They LOVE it!!!!!

OK Tom,
What is this all about!!!!!?????

Got me I was commenting to Sue the on the post above mine
Sounds very romantic - however I am a church kinda guy for the cermony - Just me

My comment was
1 week honeymoon followed by a 3 week vacation!
one can look at it a few different ways

the honeymoon continues....
or
the honeymoon was sooooooooooooo good that they needed three weeks to unwind
or
now they are married folks and just love STJ like the rest of us

There is a new venue site near Magen's at http://norbuevents.com/

If your party is small (under 65), they are a great spot.

My wife and I (much like the earlier post from singerjen) got married on St. John 3 years ago and had our ceremony at Trunk Bay at sunset. Things worked out wonderfully all the way around & we got some amazing photo memories. Anne Marie, St. John's famous "Barefoot Minister", handled the ceremony and made the arrangements for the beach. She was very helpful; http://stjohnweddings.com/

We had about 50 guests that joined us. We rented villas, arranged catering, music, flowers & photography. I can tell you who we used and provide a few more tips too if you decide on STJ. I won't take up any more space for now!

Regardless... GOOD LUCK!
