I don't know about best deals but when we are there we enjoy going to a small shop in the same building as the Hard Rock. It is called "Glitters" and is run by a family. They were always very friendly and helpful and never pushy. We always felt pressured at the other shops that we went to. Don't like pushy sales clerks.

I swear by Diamonds International on Main Street (the main location)....ask for Wendy Tarapani. She's the owner and her service and knowledge are EXCELLENT.

My husband bought my engagement ring, earrings, and many other pieces from them (and I have bought pieces for him there, too), and we have always been beyond satisfied. Their service AFTER the sale is great, too. For example,I got my hand caught and ruined some of the prongs on my ring, and thought it was ruined. I called them (from the states), and they told me the service center to send it to, and it was returned to me a few days later in gleaming wonderful condition. I never paid a dime for it to be fixed (not even postage or insurance on the ring in transit).

You won't be disappointed!!

Heather

I also, as many of my friends and family have shopped at Glitters in St. Thomas at International Plaza. It is family owned. I personally worked with Jimmy Vied (the owner) I bought a diamond tennis bracelet that I had some issues with, when I retrned to minnesota, I contacted Jimmy, He in-turn sent some pictures of bracelets in compairable price range, I picked the one I liked, Jimmy sent the bracelet to me when i recieved it, I sent the other one back. I 'm pretty much a jewelry fanatic, you will never find this type of customer service anywhere. MY friends and family as well as my self will always shop at glitters weather in St. Thomas or with a simple phone call to Jimmy Himself.

Cardow on Main Street.....the girls will take care of you just fine.....(they have two locations on Main Street, the "main" store on the corner and the diamond center just down the street).

Seriously, get your best prices from everybody else downtown and then go to Cardow - they will typically be lower.

Lucky Jewelers, 17 Main Street in town. Ask for Pash or Max. I started shopping there years ago every time we stopped in St. Thomas off a cruise. My husband and I now live on St. Croix and still shop there whenever we get over to St. Thomas. They have beautiful jewelry and excellent service after the purchase. If you have any problem at all, just let them know and they will fix or replace it. But I have had few problems as I love everything I have ever bought from them.

Try Imperial jewelers located at 10 main street. Ask for Joe, or Charley, and be prepared to have your every question answered and the items you are interested in nicely priced. You will be pampered beyond belief. Do try to visit on a day when there are not many ships in port however, in order to spend the time you need to make your decision.

I'd love to find a nice pair of blue diamond earrings; we'd seen a pair on Oahu that were splendid, but at $1700, a bit beyond our price range. Think we might have some luck in St. Thomas?

I have always found very good prices at Jewels. Mostly I use the Havensight store and deal with David or John.

Just to let you know that they are not "real" blue diamonds. They are radiated by laser to make them blue. If you brought the true real blue diamonds they would cost you over $5000+ know as my friend is in the diamond business. Just a head up.

Well, we only shop at one place. It is located in Drake's Passage at the waterfront of downtown Charlotte Amalie. It is called, "LIBERTY JEWELERS". When you arrive, tell them that CINDY sent you, and wait and see the price and service they give you!! Also, upon your arrival, they will offer you free drinks. They also have a website.

Christy: Everyone has their favorite place, as you can see. The best way to get bargains is to know your stuff. Find out at home what the item would cost. Know the quality, etc. Then you can deal with them from a position of authority. They will usually try to beat someone else's price to make a sale- within reason.

As an aside, the dealing is usually with the jewelry stores only. Most of the clothing stores, etc. have set prices.

Ditto on Imperial Jewelers - free drinks from Coconuts. Say Hi to Karen and Joe from Iowa! They even replaced a diamond that I lost out of a setting years later at no cost. My ex-jeweler at home sure didn't do that!

imperial jewelers and house of rajah are the two places where i get my jewelry when on STT. great service and great prices at both places. haven't seen a need to shop anywhere else for jewelry. also, if you happen to go to coconuts say hi to john and shirley and the whole crew - they ROCK!

Yikes,

You can find all your jewelry and watch needs downtown STT. Whether it is designer or not, you can't beat Little Switzerland. They just opened new concept shops within LS Main Street and LS Park side that have buys ranging from 3 for $20 with Fresh water pearls or semi-precious gemstones up.

Little Switzerland Vault opened 2 weeks ago and everything in there is big $$$ off. In fact the more you buy, the better the deals and savings. They have everything under the sun in that store -

If you want designer lines jewelry and timepieces between Little Switzerland and Jewels - you will find all that you need with great value.

All stores carry interest free financing if you want, that allows you to use their $$ not yours - a number of different programs based on
minimum purchase.

I second the recommendation for Little Switzerland. They have made shopping in St Thomas fun again! Most of the people on my Christmas gift list will be getting something from their new line, because they are such a great value, and are really exciting designs.

When I was in the "park" store last week, the salespeople were so nice! I felt so guilty spending such a small amount of money, but they made me feel like I was spending thousands! I'm so glad to see something new and exciting in St Thomas!
