Just a reminder that the annual chili cook-off will take place this Sunday at Bolongo Bay. Cooks get there early in the morning to set up their booths and start cooking, and the chili tasting starts around noontime. It's a fabulous party for a bunch of most worthy charitable organizations - the place to see everyone, taste all sorts of chili and hear some great live music! Don't miss it! Cheers!

Ah, if only the English had something in their cookbooks like chili.

How about a spotted dick cookoff???

It's ok Dream. They'd serve it in a wrap! 😉

Anyway, there's no spotted dick in the VI, unless STTRes wants to start making it. I'm sure her menu be interesting looking with that item.

They do have reef fish called Slippery Dick, though. You can see one if you go to Coral World. Maybe they could have a cook-off for that. I can see the headlines now.....

Wouldn't want to eat either spotted, or slippery. I don't care how it's wrapped!! Sounds as if it
needs medical attention!

Or perhaps maybe a cock-a-leekie cookoff?

I'll be there Sunday. I hope to meet some of you there!

No worries. If any of this leaves a bad taste in your mouth, you can just wash it away with a Piddle in the Hole.

Gotta love those Brits!

If you knew what piddle means in "A-mer-i-can" you wouldn't be swishing it around in your mouth,
believe me.

Heh heh, me doggie is the aussie or Australian Shepherd. I'm just a corn-shuckin', catfish-fryin', chicken-n-dumplins, good ol' boy from the corn belt.

And I do speak "A-mer-i-can" or, at least, somethin' closely akin to it. 😀

First , I would like to say I love the Brits and the Aussie's. I admit, I have no idea what
you meant by "Piddle in the Hole".
You, bein' a "A-mer-i-can" might be able to explain, please.

Greetings DreamConch

My pleasure. Piddle in the Hole is one of 4 beers brewed by The Wyre Piddle Brewery in Worcestershire. They also brew Piddle in the Dark, Piddle in the Snow, and Piddle in the Wind.

If you say that that's the way to be able to eat spotted, slippery, or leekie dicks, I'll
bow out and watch you do it, gladly.
......Now, that might be fun.

LOL...I do believe I'll pass! 🙂

Slippery dick is too small to eat. Cock-a-leekie soup sounds good except for the prunes. LOL..prunes? And spotted dick is actually supposed to taste rather good.

I am willing to try the Piddle in the Hole!

The picture looks good but, I really want to know what's in the ingredients. The
yellow colored sauce has me worried.

It's a steamed suet pudding with currants and the sauce is custard.

STT, obviously the poor girl has never had any English Christmas pudding.

And who said the English didn't have their own cuisine.
