I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about Little Magen's Bay. I've been told that it was gay friendly and also that it was a clothing optional beach. Any comments? What's the best way to get there? Thanks!

May....every beach is friendly and i'm not sure what you mean by "gay friendly", but there are no clothing optional beaches in the USVI's.

Little Magens has always been a traditionally gay-friendly clothing-optional beach. However, do be aware that nudity IS illegal in the USVI and you COULD be arrested at LM if the police decided to come and visit. That said, it's happened very rarely. Once when I was there years ago a police officer did a quick walk-through and those who couldn't get their clothes on or otherwise cover up quickly were nicely asked by him to do so and, satisfied, he left. Obviously everyone who goes there keeps a low profile in order not to attract attention and it's a beautiful spot. Cheers!

I second STTResident's comments. As I sat on Magens with my binoculars earlier this month, I could clearly see that the guys on Little Magens were taking the liberty of being "clothing optional". I believe it is a mature, sedate crowd - not a place for partying or gawking. "Low key" for sure. Its also kind of cool that a woman could probably go there, take off her clothes, and be ignored 🙂

It is a gay -friendly place, yes.

C'mon Connie, you don't know what gay-friendly means? We have to get you out more 🙂

Blu...i don't understand why any beach would be labeled "gay-friendly". I don't care if you're gay or straight, to me it's the same if you're talking about beaches.

Still no nudity in USVI's.

Well, on beches like Magens, Coki and the others, it would probably not be appreciated if 2 men were kissing or holding each other in the water. You'll often see a man and woman doing this on the beaches, but not 2 men. I'm sure there'd be a "thing" about it if it happened - especially in the Caribbean where being gay (a "chi-chi mon") is not as tolerated as it is in the states or Europe.

So, a place where the gay men can go and freely express themselves to one another - on a beach - in the nude - would certainly qualify as gay friendly.

I'm glad they have that beach for themselves....and I support them in protecting it for themselves.

OK...jeez...i got it. I don't make any difference between gay or straight. Sorry, but i don't understand the term "gay friendly". Just so you know I have a brother that is gay.

I prefer to make NO difference bettwen gay, straight, black, white, whatever.

Maybe none of you understand what I'm saying, but i really don't care. As far as I was concerned with the original post, I was not aware of any gay friendly beaches.

Oh for goodness' sake, no I don't think anyone knows what you mean, Connie. Don't get those flip flops all knotted. "Gay-friendly" means welcoming acceptance of homosexuality as opposed to outright homophobia. Methinks you are protesting too much. Next time you're in Charlotte Amalie, check out the rainbows posted on the windows of many local shops.

Maybe this is a good lesson for posters not to respond to questions they don't understand.

maybel: If you want to PM me I'll give you directions and maybe introduce you to a couple of regulars who frequent LM. Cheers!

Wow, STT Resident, your answer was way knotted than Connie's reply.

Leave the woman alone, I got what she was saying as I'm sure many others did too. (lol)

Don't think you are supposed it "get it," Promo ...

and, of course, we all know that there is no nudity in the USVI ... nor topless either ... right?

And while Ranger Rick is kept happy on STJ checking out Salomon for bathing attire or lack thereof, Little Magen's has been a popular spot for gay sunworshippers both clothed and unclothed for many years.

Nothing to get one's flip-flops in a twist about! And if one is claiming not to know what "gay friendly" means, not sure what planet they are on since discrimination is still very much alive. Some Caribbean countries have refused gay cruises the opportunity to dock and some resorts make it known that a couple of the same sex sharing a bed is not something that they will tolerate.

OK all...sorry if i offended anybody in anyway. I was not aware the Little Magens was a "gay friendly" beach. I really don't care who's at what beach or what they do, or how they act, or whatever.

As I said, my brother is gay and i also have many gay friends. I'm much more laid back then you may think and since you don't know me personally, maybe some people on this board shouldn't judge me on the "gay" question.

I'm glad the original poster is able to get the information that they want.

If anybody thinks that i'm not personally gay friendly, talk to my brother that i've been very good friends with for over 50 years.

Don't judge me when you don't know me.

Connie, I think you are reading too much into the responses. Nobody is judging you and your level of friendliness or not - gay or otherwise. The VI is not a tolerant place for our homosexual friends. It is a shame - and a fact. They need to know where they can go and be free, without fear. Call it gay friendly or call it whatever you want. Fly the rainbow flag- whatever. They just need to know what's safe.

As far as all races being the same.....that's a nice ideal. But, the only people who can think that way are those with the luxury of not being a race that is discriminated against. Otherwise, you are reminded - every day.

Nothing against the way you think. It is wonderful to feel that way - and to think that way. It just isn't reality. But, someone has to hold the ideals - glad it's you! Now, if only the world had more like you.

I think STTResident has already offered to do that - as well as connect the OP with her friends who visit there. The OP should be well on his or her way.

Thanks, everyone, for all the info. Plus, thanks for all the free entertainment. All of you were sooooooooooooo funny going back and forth about the meaning of "gay friendly"! Me and a friend actually got there today. It was very easy to find and I also noticed where there was a trail going up to the road instead of trekking in the water from Magen's. Some dude also told us that there was a murder on the road directly above LM where a dude was shot, stuffed into a trunk of a car, and later found because of blood dripping from the car!!!!! That is so brutal! Anyway, it was a very nice beach, no nudity today, and a few other gay "cruisers" visiting periodically. Just wanted all to know that the advice was greatly appreciated! Thanks
