Getting from St. Thomas to St. Maarten

I'm going on a barefoot cruise out of St. Maarten that starts on the last Sunday in November. The flights from Minnesota directly to St. Maarten are very expensive - $600 U.S. and up. I can find tickets to St. Thomas for under $300, but I'm not sure how to get to St. Maarten from St. Thomas for super cheap. Is there a ferry that anyone knows of, or a really cheap inter-island air carrier? Thanks for your help!

You can also check from Puerto Rico to St Maarten. But the $600 fare is not bad! LIAT or AA will cost you also.
