OK....I've narrowed down our search for a Villa.

Wanted the East End, but seems like there's alot of villas on the Northside.

Here's what we've found. Anybody have any information about any of these Villas?

Pallina
Villa de la Vista
Blue Moon
Villa Marea
Sea Star
Cayenne
St James Bay House (if we splurge)

Help me here, I'm the travel co-coordinator for 8 adults. :o)

Connie, I'm curious to see what others think. One thing - do you plan to rent a 4WD? I've driven out on the way to Carbita Point with the intention of visiting Blue Moon and Villa Fantasia and had to turn my rental car around because of my discomfort with the road. I am also not sure about the accesss to Villa de la Vista.

Yes Blu, we'll have a 4WD, in fact 2 of them because there's 8 of us and 4 of them are 19-27, so i'm sure they'll want to go their own way at some point.

What do you mean your discomfort with the road.

We stayed at Villa Pallina 2 years ago just before it was sold and loved it! One of the drawbacks with several of the beautiful villas that sit low along the eastern shoreline of Magens Bay (e.g., Coral Gardens, Sand Dollar, etc.) is no easterly trade winds. They can become stifling hot during the day, especially in the summer. Pallina, on the other hand, sits high enough up on the hillside to capture the easterly breezes and still has the awesome view of Magens Bay. The best of both worlds. As nice as it was then, it's even nicer now. The new owners extended the deck all the way around the pool, added a hot tub, and remodeled the lower level pool room. It's a great place!

Connie,

The road was unpaved as it neared the point area and became somewhat rocky. A 4WD or any 2WD SUV with good clearance should be fine.

Thanks all.....we're pretty set on Pallina. It's look really nice and I feel like I just have to make a decision on this, so that we can get airfare and a couple cars.

Our two families are really close. We've been friends since we were little and our children are really close, so I think we'll be hanging in alot and just enjoying each others company.

I know we'll end up in Red Hook at Duffy's, so I'll be asking questions later on about how to get there safe withough driving and I know we'll get to St. John's.

This is a work in progress and I appreciate everybodies input.

Connie,
One little tidbit you might find interesting about Pallina's history... The previous owner told me that Pallina was built by an Italian woman as a surprise for her son. She had the complete kitchen, including kitchen and bathroom fixtures, and several expensive pieces of furniture shipped in from Italy for a touch of home. When the son arrived shortly after completion, he announced that he didn't like the place, so the mom put it up for sale. Oh well, such is life in the world of the rich and famous LOL!

Thanks Blu...i starting to feel more comfortable now that I picked a place.

Next is airfare and although we usually go out of Philadelphia, Spirit's prices seem to be a couple hundred dollars less. Flying out of Atlantic City. We have a place in Wildwood, so we'll go down the night before and just drive over. It's worth it when you have 8 people. Saves alot of money.

My husband and I with our two children, ages 13 and 17 are going to St. Thomas in July for our first trip to the USVI. We are considering these villas - does anyone know which one is the best and closest to the beach and town? I''m not sure we are getting a 4-wheel drive or not - we can if we need to. Here are our choices so far:

Mangorosa
Camelot
St. James Bay House
Katmari
Las Brisas

Any information you have would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!

We finally settled on Wyndcliffe Villa which is in Mahogany Run. It has 6 BR,5 1/2 BA and i think it will work out great for us. I haven't been able to get anybodies opinion of the Villa, so I'm just really hoping that it's perfect for us. Not too far from Red Hook, close to Magens Bay.

Hope I did the right thing since I'm basically the travel agent for 7 other people.

Just a heads up- if a usable pool at your villa is important to you, do not consider Villa de la Vista. It's not a bad villa, but the pool is pretty much a kiddie size wadding pool that is in the shade and never gets warm enough to use. And it's really small- I mean REALLY small. Hope ya have a great trip.

Have either of you looked into renting Villa Jamie? This is a 4-5 bedroom, with large poll and awesome views.

We are renting Villa Jamie in July.Aren't you renting it in June? Do you know much about it or are you just going by the picutres on the internet? We don't know anything about it except for what is on this message board. The pics look great - we are really exicted. I only hope there isn't any construction going on around it - I'd hate to have to hear construction noise!

All of you will NOT be disappointed with Villa Jamie, it is a very nice home and very well done! No construction going on that I know of...Villa Jamie is at the (almost) end of the road and is a peaceful spot! Believe I will be doing the escort for KK and looking forward to meeting her! I can answer any specific questions on the villa if you have any! Can't think of any bad virtues at all!
PS- read in the guest book that the very first guest that rented, last March I believe? Saw Whales! I've lived here 23 yrs and still have yet to see that!

What guest book are you referring to? I would love to read it. Also, how far a drive is Villa Jamie from Magen's Bay and into Charlotte Amalie? Thank you for the info!

Have you looked at Blue Serenity. It is very close to Secret Harbour Beach Resort.

Good luck
