Yes, he was indeed here a couple of weeks ago. But I have to say, as St. John residents we respect his privacy and allow him to be just another St. Johnian.

Poor KC -- even when he gets a break, he never really gets a break.

Thank goodness my trip ended up being the same week as those big country awards next month. He'll be here in Nashville for sure, and I can vacation in peace and interact with a minimal number of people looking for him at Woody's.

Oh, and just to be sure, I went and checked and his properties that are for sale have not yet sold, so technically he still owns property on STJ. Whether he spends time there or not is up to him. I'm out of the KC loop.

Maybe I should've just lied and told them all he'd moved away... Oops!

Since the media found out about his home/visits here, his privacy has been breached. Even on the beach, the media is on boats offshore with zoom lenses. He now stays on another island for his privacy.

Are you all a bunch of teeny-boppers, or what?? Usually when men and women grow up, they lose their 'start-struck' fancies with other humans that are no better or worse than they, themselves, are. Jeez! Give the freakin' guy a break! I'd have sold my place, too, if I had to deal with all of you immature people...sheesh, he's a man, like any other...why don't you freak out when you see the homeless guy in Cruz Bay? Cuz he hasn't recorded his voice?? Gimme a break! Would you all freak out when you found out that I was "Marty" from "Spin and Marty"?? NO! Ya know why? Cuz those fans have GROWN UP and moved on!!! Get a life, people!

(there, I'll get off my soapbox now...I just felt the need to vent, please forgive me....I'm just sooo sick of hearing about this guy..and I'll bet he's just as sick and tired of the BS, which is why he wants to sell.....)

It's funny. I rarely see people making a big fuss about KC in Nashville (and believe me, we get our fair share of tourists looking for stars here), but I will bet you a crisp, $100 bill that when I am on STJ, I will see someone asking about him or getting their picture made with his PICTURE at Woody's.

Nashville's much bigger, so I'd rather they stalk him here. STJ is too small for that kind of stuff.

It's about having something in common that is "out of the ordinary". If one of my favorite artists were a huge fan of the Shih Tzu dog breed, recorded songs about how much they really appreciated the Shih Tzu dog and attended the national Shih Tzu dog championship every year, then I (if I were also a big Shih Tzu championship dog show fan) would look for him/her there every time I went.

It just so happens that I really enjoy KC's music. I especially enjoy his "Just as I Am" cd which brought a smaller overall general public sales number and NO top-ten hits. It's the connection that we share. I may never meet him - just as I may never meet many of YOU! But - we still share a very special and "specialty" love for something in common - the USVI. I'd look for each of you - Marty - Connie - Dntw8up, lionindasun, IAMolly, RonUSVI (and SO many others!!!!) just like I'd look for Kenny. It's not about Super-stardom - it's about our common love for STJ/STT/JVD.

In Nashville - he's just another country singer. In the USVI - he's another very special USVI-loving individual. THAT'S the difference to me!

VI

Maybe that's why I don't get it. I live in Nashville and I have hung out with some pretty cool people. He's just another guy to me, and I wouldn't go thousands of miles to stalk anyone -- let alone just another guy.

Of course, I love George Clooney and could probably find him in that small town in Italy where he hangs out. I even want to go to Italy. I just don't think I could ever spend thousands of dollars and precious vacation time to stalk someone.

I think KC's CDs are selling less copies because he's yesterday's news... I like him OK, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sails off into the sunset soon enough.

Hey, people do come looking for me too! I don't mind it at all. One night a woman stalked my truck in Frenchtown asking everyone where I was so she could met me from the boards.
Hey VI Lover, that's "Be as you are". Marty, you need to meditate or something!

Although I vowed never again to contribute to another KC thread (but did!) I commend you VILover for your post. Unfortunately you're not the norm. When Mr. Chesney had a house here there was a thread which went on for something like 20+ pages with swooning fans asking where was his house, asking where they could find him on STJ and documenting his concerts in their hometowns and posting pics of him at off-island concerts. The thread became a basic KC fan-fest which ultimately had almost nothing to do with St John.

As some other posters have noted, he was chased out of STJ not by any locals who respected his privacy but by tourists and just maybe some attendant paparazzi although I never recall them as being any problem. Cellphone pics are one thing but I rather doubt that he's a target of basic paparazzi?

One of his properties may indeed still be up for sale but with the economy in such dire straits it might sit there for a long while.

The USVI remains a pleasant haven for many relatively minor and several major celebrities who come here to chill out. KC did his thing by getting out there at Woody's and other venues on STJ. It's hard to determine whether he exposed himself to cash in as a celebrity and to sell more CDs, or was trying to simply chill out in an environment he found comfortable. Whatever his motivations, the real estate investments may not have worked for him too well but he probably has enough money to ride on that.

Cheers!

I didn't know he moved off STJ...I thought he built a new home in a more secluded area on STJ away from Chocolate Hole.

Marty,

"Ohhhhmmmmmmmm.......ohhhhhhhmmmmmmm..." doesn't ever work. Try: "Unnnealiemon..." emphasis on 'Unnnn'

Marty, try "NOOOOOOOORUM, NOOOOOOOOOOOOORUM" and do it way back in the throat with a gargled "R!"

Ron, I hate to burst the bubble but word I got was that that Frenchtown stalker was in fact looking for a ride in that little yellow MG. Cheers!
