Looking for a NICE oceanfront Villa for the week of My 23-29 on St. John or St. Thomas. Any suggestions. Proximity to ocean and view is very important.

Thanks!

We love STT & STJ. We have found a great place that gives you the "off the beaten path feel" in STT. Here is the link: http://www.vrbo.com/203150 . It is #203150 on VRBO.com

The couple is great that owns it.

😎

You may want to narrow your search field down to one Island. STJ doesn't have any villas "On the beach" but there are plenty with awesome views near the beach...

There's about 120 STJ villas shown on this map...

a few shown on this STT map...but not many...

If there are only tow of you and you want to be right on the beach, how about Gibney Beach Cottage http://www.gibneybeachvillas.com/beach_cottage.htm . I've never stayed here and I don't know if it's available for your dates but the location is unequalled. It's my favorite beach on St. John. If you'd consider a hillside villa there are lots to choose from on St. John.

Yes - looking for this year. I am tempted to fly down for a day or so beforehand to check out some properties. It needs to be perfect. Not a big fan of surprises. 🙂

I would try www. book-it vi for villas on St. John. They have treated us well and will offer info such as which direction the house faces to help to decide if you want afternoon or morning sun, sunsets or sunrises. There are a few houses actually on the beach; most are above sometimes with the ability to walk down to the beach. Many houses have fantastic views of the ocean and British Virgin Islands. This is the only place I travel that I am willing to not be exactly on the beach since some of the views from the hillsides are magnificient. The website www.vrbo.com is also a good website to look for villas on St. John. We love the Coral Bay side of the island. My husband and I and two friends arrive May 20 for a two week stay. This will be our 8th visit. If there is any way you can stay longer, do so. Enjoy.

One more thing. Make sure you try a painkiller while you are there. A good stop for lunch and a painkiller would be Skinny Legs in Coral Bay.

There are so many things we really need to know to give you suggestions.

1. What is your budget?
2. How many people in your party?
3. What must the villa have? Pool, Hot Tub, Bedroom AC?
4. Will you be renting a car/jeep?
5. What do you want to get from your vacation? STT and STJ are different.

Great questions...

1. Around $2,000 for the week (give or take)
2. 2
3. Yes, Yes, Yes. 🙂 Well appointed. Hot tub not necessary. Pool - Yes (or a resort with a nice pool). AC - definitely. King Bed.
4. We can rent a car/jeep if necessary. Haven't decided yet.
5. Million Dollar question... Lots of beach. Relaxation. Great views. Easy access to shops, stuff to do.

we have a two bedroom condo right on Sapphire Beach. The condo has everything from cable TV to the the AC. Pool, tennis are part of the complex. This is RIGHT on the beach. You probably can't get much closer to the most beautiful beach on STT.!

VRBO ad # 153908

or write [email protected] for more info.

I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for for $2K/week on St. John. You're going to have to increase your budget Danny.

If you want to be on the beach for that budget, I would suggest looking on STT.
Beachfront on STJ would involved renting a jeep and if you want a pool, well, that may be $2000 a night...for a villa. 🙂 Not necessarily that much, but the National Park land does make the number of beachfront homes very small.

The two Islands are substantially different, I would choose the Island first and then find a place to stay.

We have been visiting STJ for 17 years and always stay out at Rendezvous Bay...view is mesmerizing and access to beach below villa. However, I don't know of any villas that rent for $2000 a week, some for $2400. If you rent villa you will also have to rent a jeep. There are condos in town...Gallows Point right on the water with a pool. You could walk around town and take taxi shuttles to the beaches. But, there is nothing like your own vehicle on STJ to go to those more out of the way places...and the Coral Bay side of the island is a must. The Westin is right on the beach, but is a man made beach and really just a resort like all other resorts. Good luck !

Might want to mention to your family that St John has no ('s) and Magens Bay has no apostrophe between the n and the s! Just sayin'!

Take a look at Marriott Frenchman's Cove. New two and three bedroom Villas on the beach, all with incredible water views. Check out reviews and pics at trip advisor. Saw a couple two bedrooms available on redweek asking $2200 for that week. Probably can talk them lower for that week. Good luck with wherever you choose.
