I used the info on this board leading up to our vacation (12/24/02-1/3/03) so I thought I owed the other readers a final entry. These are my personal opinions so trake this for what it's worth...

Fenchman's Reef.

Our room was OK. Excellent view of the habor that was spectacular at night. The bathroom was very small, no exhaust fan and the drains were very slow.

The grounds were very nice, well kept with great views. The beach at Morningstar was great.... if you were will to go reserve at beach chair before 8:00 AM. Otherwise they we all taken. If you wanted a beach umbrella we had to get there by 6:30 AM. Granted, our visit was during the busiest week of the year but still... It would have been nice to sleep in a few times.

Service was mixed, as it is most places. We have paid less on othe islands and gotten better service.

We didn't have the best luck at the hotels restaurants. Windows on the Habour seafood buffett was nice and the breakfast there was good. We had reservations at Tavern on the Beach for New Years Eve, but we walked out when our meals hadn't arrived after being seated for 2 hours and 20 minutes.

I'd give Frenchman's Reef a 7 out of 10.

Other restaurants we tried were Blue Moon Cafe, Craig and Sally's and Banana Tree Grille. All excellent.

Took a tour of St John's. Just Beautiful. I thoght Trunk Bay Beach was over rated.

Magen's Bay Beach on St Thomas I also thought was over rated. The sun is behind you...so you can either face the water/view and get a tan on the back of your neck or face the sun and look at the parking lot.

The climate is perfect. The sun is very hot. The water is clear and warm.

The taxi system is horrible. Very expensive and your forced to share a ride virtually everywhere you go.

I was concerned about crime before we went but this turned out to be a non issue for STT and ST John's. There seemed to be a fair amont of poverty among the local population so you have to be careful but we never felt like we were in danger.

Have fun.
