Once again, your pictures make the colors pop off the page. Thanks for sharing.

Great pics - - colors are amazing. You are quite the photojournalist! Makes me shudder to look outside in STL now to compare. And makes me shiver relative to our 20 deg. day. I can make it until April. I can make it until April.

The camera is a Canon 10D. Not cheap, and not lightweight, but it does a nice job when paired with a nice lens. And I'm looking outside in Cincinnati right now and wishing I was BACK! 🙂

Thanks for the compliments,
Ken

Awesome images... you've captured St. John in my eye!. I love the leaf floating in the crystal clear water.
It's not the camera... it's the photographer.

Wow, nice...the best underwater pictures I've seen!

Everytime I've taken underwater pictures, the colors are dull and tend to be shades of blue. Did you use a filter?

Really nice pictures. And once again I remind myself that I really must get a polarizer before our next trip.

About the underwater photos. Lots of mine had the blue hue when they were taken, but that is because the red colors get absorbed to a greater extent than the blues in water - and so you are left with bluish images. This can be minimized by getting more light into the shot - so you can take them when the sun is high, in shallow water (preferably with a sandy bottom) and with a flash. Then, in Photoshop after the pictures are taken, you can color balance the photos to help put the reds and yellows back in.

Those were my first attempts, and of the 30 or so I posted, there were hundreds that I didn't - because they just weren't any good!

The camera helps, but I agree with Crickett--it's a matter of style, IMO, and I love yours! Thanks for sharing...it brightened my day here in VT!

Once again, beautiful photos. Just what I need as the temp drops in NY and it's been too long since I last experienced STT and STJ in person! Thanks.

Awesome photos! They were a nice distraction from the snow flurries in Pittsburgh!

Man, alive! Nice pix. What did you use 35mm or digital? I'd love to hear back as after years of 35mm format, I'm finally considering buying a digital.

Thx.

SGT,

The camera is a Canon 10D digital SLR. So if you are familiar with 35mm, you will have no problem handling this camera (I shot year of film before switching 2 years ago). Actually, it has been replaced in Canon's lineup with the 20D. I wish I could get one of those, but I'd rather spend my money travelling to St. John!

Years ago, I started out w/an F-1, then an A-1. I still use both of those but it may be time to look at digital. I hate shooting half a roll of B&W just b/c I need color pix. I'll still keep the 35mms though.......great formats. Thanks much!!

Hey Ken, the pics look great! Looks like your color balance is much more natural than the first trip... Once again, excellent job!
