My villa doesnt have a pool. Has anyone tried to use a pool at a place other than they were staying like a hotel? Or is it possible to pay to use one?

Yes, it's called the Caribbean Sea, much better than any pool you'll find on the islands! 🙂

They probably won't ask any questions at The Westin...especially if you buy lunch or a drink or something. There are too many people for them to bother questioning everyone.

by the way, which island are you referring to? I gave you a response for St John. I'm not sure how things are on STT.

At my resort we charge a small fee to use our beach, but our pool is for our guests only. We do have a restaurant on the beach and I know people eat lunch at the restaurant and then spend the day at the beach.

During slow season, and unless you are a large party, probably no one will question you. I hope you would be considerate of the hotel guest during busy time, Christmas and spring break, and not use facilities meant for registered guests.

I'm with Jill! Why on earth even bother with pool access when the Caribbean waters are right there? Get everyone together, pack up your cooler, hop in your car and head for the nearest beach. Enjoy your stay!

Don't worry, I plan on spending most of the time at the beautiful beaches, thats why I booked a villa without a pool. But I thought that maybe one trip to a pool somewhere would be nice.

Would you mind if hotel guests came & used your villa's bathroom or kitchen?

Trade, I think there's quite a HUGE difference between a Hotel's pool and a Villa's bathroom or kitchen...

That said, Mike, since you appear to be an adult, why not call the Westin and ask if you are permitted to use their pool for free or a small fee. While this is a great forum for people's opinions & experiences, it always pays to go directly to the source for factual information.

ENJOY!

Lisa

In STT people often use Hotel pools and I too, when my children were young, used to do the same. (tho we always bought lunch there). It is not a problem for most hotels and the only one that was difficult was Wyndham Sugar Bay. I don't see it as a bad thing either and I do like a pool once in a while instead of the beach! 🙂

Linda J. - I agree with your apporach to using resort facilities. I guess that's why we stayed at the Westin. I'm actually looking at the Buccaneer for next Christmas but the 9 night minimum is too long for us. Are you usually at capacity for the holidays?

As a timeshare owner, I don't really care if other people come to use the pool. The pool area isn't exaclty about peace, quiet, and privacy, so why does it matter? It's pretty much a loud, almost party-type area where tons of people congregate....a complete contrast to the sparse population of the beaches. If you want a pool to yourself, rent a private villa. Otherwise, be prepared to share....and while you're sharing, why does it matter if you're sharing with other hotel guests or random people popping in for the day? When you have a crapload of people piled all over you at the pool, does it really make you feel better to know that everyone in there is paying for a room at the hotel...are you really thinking about that? I'm guessing that anyone who goes to the islands and spends their time at a swimming pool rather than a quiet beach, has pretty much already resigned to spending time with an overabundance of people and by that point, who cares if more unauthorized guests show up. I don't think it's right to show up at a random hotel and use their pool, but I also don't think it's going to hurt anything to do it. I'd probably justify my pool use with a visit to the restaurant or bar and after having spent entirely too much money, feel really good about using the pool to my heart's content.

Love the Cape,

We are always at capacity. Your only chance at less than 9 days is to check in late November, early December. By that time we are filling in with shorter stays. But you would have to take what's available. Christmas at the Buccaneer, especially if you have kids, is wonderful.

Personally, I can't imagine trying to sneak into some place where I'm not staying and trying to use their facilities. They're not public places and not open to the public. I don't think it would ever cross my mind. If I wanted what a particular place had to offer, that's where I'd stay.
