Strange to find no mention in this forum of the strip club that planned for the former Mixology Warehouse space at the Lumberyard complex in downtown Cruz Bay. Oh yeah - this won't add to the crime problem that doesn't exist.

I am not a prude (and have known to visit these types of establishments while in Vegas), but a strip club on STJ!!!??? I am surprised that no one is up in arms about this... (yet) How about a gigantic casino next?

Hey Matt

I just posted the recipe on the "Perfect Margarita Recipe" thread 🙂

It is very different from the normal margarita's she may have had but once you get past the first couple of sips...wow 🙂 Just be careful you don't put in too much Grand Marnier or it can be alittle bitter 🙁

Enjoy - and let me know what she thinks.

Pia

As you know I kind of making a living at coming up with promotional ideas so I thought that would be a good idea.

The only other idea I had was possibly applying for a job as a pole dancer, but thought it would hasten the demise of said club before it became a demised said club.

promoguy: you and other similarly aged pot-bellies doing pole dances would be such a big hit on all the US Virgin Islands! I can just picture it - and, hey - I have the perfect spot at my place to put in a pole. If they allow you to even ENTER Ireland on your upcoming holiday you might have a problem re-entering the US so try and be on best behaviour. But when and if you successfully re-enter, let's talk about that pole dancing engagement for when you next visit here. Cheers, dear!!

I was sorry to read that casino and strip club are coming to Cruz Bay. Not my kind of thing and I fear this could change atmosphere in Cruz Bay. Who was for these developments?

Change the atmosphere more than Grande Bay, Pond Bay, Sirenusa, Market Place, or Wharfside?

You've definitely got a point there, Ron.

I'm thinking that given the high prices of most things on St John and the associated costs of just living on island or for that matter the back and forth trips from St Thomas, what tourist is gonna be able to afford a lap dance.

I'm not suprised by the new addition of a strip club in St John since the legislature doesn't seem to have a "get tough on crime" stance. The Virgin Islands aren't very virgin anymore. With the massive influx of people from the Dominican Republic, most of which are illegal, the majority have found it easy to make money instead of running from the police. (Not to say the police raid any of the brothels on STT).

The age of innocence seems to have left the islands in exchange for a corrupt police force, a legislature who talks instead of acts, and a population that has more faith in being cynical instead of hope and prosperity for the locals. I wish STT had a "defenestration league" like STX.

We have the laws, we have the man power, so why else would we have such a lack of faith in our current outlook on our respective islands?

Sadness...

Argh,

T.

and yet STX has so much more violent crime, especially against tourists, than STT. Tell us about this ejection window policy please.

Could you please give the statistics you are using to back up your claim that "STX has so much more violent crime, especially against tourists, than STT"? I would be fascinated to see them.

Hey, we're talking strip clubs, private booths, pole dancing and lap dances and what do you do, go and change the thread to crime.

Strip clubs, corruption, murder, people with their heads in the sand. I was all excited till I found out STT Resident was a female--- trips cancelled.

Are you serious Bill? Funny thing. All those things existed 20 years ago when you were there as well. Things happen form time to time. The Internet has put a spin on things in my opinion. It will be just as you remember.

WOW...I read most of this thread and I am not surprised at the response to the possibility of a strip club in Cruz Bay. I too find it out of place to say the least. I don't see anyone here asking if it is legal. If it is legal and someone wants to front the money for a venture that is sure to fail....what is the problem?
We have strip clubs in our community. I have seen the same in other places I have visited. There are those who frequent them. Sorry, it's not for me so I stay away. Live and let live. If that is a "head in the sand" mentality to someone then oh well. I prefer my toes in the sand.
If the majority of the community wants to exclude this type of business, then let them deal with it through legislation. If you are a tourist and don't like it then stay away. I find StJ beaches and trails much more attractive than town anyway. When I am on island that is where you will find me.
Don't get me wrong. I will be sad to see a strip club or a gaming club in Cruz Bay, but it will not keep me away from StJ.

What happened to the rights of individuals to make stupid decisions? Like I said, if someone has that much cash to waste on a bad idea, go ahead. I will snicker when it fails.

Ron, I was having one of those moments. I was just being facetious.
3 months and 5 days and counting.
Looking forward with the time alone with my wife and a world away from all of it. Every since I planned this vacation back in Feb. I have been on nothing but island time.
Anybody hiring?*-)

I can't believe that all of you have ANYTHING to say about MY HOME. You come as a visitor while listening to the Poppas and the Mommas or Buffet and you want to stay. Did you think that at one time you were seen as the same intrusion or ugliness as the Strip clubs or gambling or inclusive slavery hotels that you Americans love to say its ok? Its like the old saying; everyone loves surprises no one likes accidents they are the same thing, its just that one suites you and the other does not. When the Island of St. John was bought by the Rockerfeller's and turned the island into a national park it was find because it put a limit on people coming there and over populating the island. Over population from the drop outs and dregs of America.

Since the Danish let the Island go it has been a downward spiral into the capitalistic murdering society that it is now. Strip clubs and gambling at least brings REAL revenue BACK into the Caribbean. Strip clubs encourage conventions and gambling keeps the interest of the high rollers that once flock to Vegas before your American corporation promising clean living for it own "KIND" messed up the economy!

Are you aware or even care that this Matrix lie and conquest of other indigenous Islanders right to exist causes only pain and suffering. Your model for existence has NEVER worked. It is a failure. Your social infrastructure has failed humans all over the world. Face it you and your kind need to go back to America and leave the Island and ALL of it to ISLANDERS. I know you NEVER want to give up anything because Americans are basically pimps and/or hoes so we REAL ISLANDERS can sent you ur money 10% to the house right?
