Dave & I are coming back down to STT May 10-24th, can't wait! This time we are bringing our son, my sister and her son. Would love to get together with forum members, but at a place we could talk and hear each other not like last year at Paradise Pt. Anyone up for a get together?:)

Oh crikey - does that mean I should wear my orange shirt just to get things rolling?

The 20th sounds fine to me. By then we will have 2 more people joining us. That's 7 for us for the 20th. Molly what are you doing building a house? Sounds like all your missing is an electrician! Yes that's what my husband is haha.

Barb,

Our husbands will get along famously. My husband is a general contractor. We are renovating our unit ourselves with the help of a few of our stateside employees. We were down in late February, early March to do all of the electrical and the mechanical plumbing. It might have been easier to build new, it's amazing how cobbled together some of the work has been done at our place. We decided last summer to really gut the place and do it right. Now I'm just kicking myself, somehow I turned our favorite vacation spot into work. Oh well, if anything, It will be a very lengthy PM.

We decided to bring a few of our own guys so that they work on our schedule and get the job done. Two of the younger carpenters have never traveled before, or even seen the ocean or a palm tree. I hope that they don't defect.

Sounds like we already have the 15 people between us for the minimum required for the Toad and Tart to host the STT get together. This is great, let's see how many more people would like to join us.

Molly

Poohwear,

This will be my third trip to STT in the past 5 months. Chances are I'll see you in August. I'll know my schedule better when the dates get closer.

Just a suggestion but The Toad and Tart would be happy to host another VINow get-together on Tuesday 13 or Tuesday 20 from 6-9PM - a private party when the pub is closed to the public.

$15 pp and cash bar, buffet table laden with sliced roast beef and honey-baked ham, chicken tenders and wings, shrimp and crabmeat in lobster cream sauce in puff pastry shells, pasta primavera salad, baked filo-wrapped brie with carmelized onions, fresh fruits, selection of other cheeses, fresh breads and crackers - and petits fours. And maybe even more as the Old Tart really enjoys doing these special things.

Minimum 15 guests and max 35 give or take. For those who aren't familiar with The Toad and Tart you can read all about it at www.toadandtart.com. I think Islander has a couple of pics of a previous get-together at the T&T which was the best-attended to date.

Just a thought and a goodwill invitation. All that's asked is a basic OK and then a number tally a week beforehand.

If this doesn't fly, no problem, but I absolutely look forward to seeing mibarb and Dave again as it was next to impossible to have a chat at that Paradise Point get-together other than on the tramway - and finding anyone amongst the melee was quite a trip. Cheers!

STT Resident,

Alright, so I don't have that quote thing down yet. I was trying to include the delicious menu in my post. What a great price for all of that food! I can't speak for Barb, but if you include herself and her group of seven, and myself with my group of eight, I think that we have already met the minimum requirements for the Toad and Tart to officially reserve the 20th from 6-9 for a private vinow event. Now all we need is at least (give or take a few, as in your words) 20 more forum lurkers who like to have as much fun on the island as we do.

A note of warning to the Tart:

Our master carpenter, lovingly refered to as "Lurch", will be joining my group for this event. He is 6' 7" with curly red hair. He loves his beer, and lot's of it in the evening after a hard day's work. Please keep a limit on my bar tab, he drinks a pint of beer as if it was a dixie cup. All said in good fun, but the group of friends that I will be bringing are quite delightful. But if you're at the party, you wont miss Terry, he's adorable and very, very tall. He is also 37 and single.

I hope to meet many new acquaintances on the 29th of May.

Molly

Molly, I got excited for a minute because that's when we'll be there.

I just may have to surprise the Old Tart one day when we're down there 😀

Connie,

I'll be in STT until the 28th of May. I'd love to meet up, maybe at Duffy's. I have a feeling that it will turn into my 2 oldest son's watering hole. My husband and I did attempt the Shark Tank last time we were on island. Now I know from experience to stick to my wine.

I think you should invite some of the local carpenters, plumbing and electrical people as well so they can meet the imported workers and trade stories, especially with the big beer drinking one.

Exit Zero,

I'll be bringing the whole crew, including the big beer drinking guy. You just have to promise me that you won't tell him that I mentioned him in this post. His name is Terry and he is very shy, haha.

A quick bump here. The response thus far has been excellent for the May 20th get-together date. Apart from Molly and Barb's combined 15, more have signed up via PM and word of mouth so, if you're out there and want to join in, please let me know asap as even Caribbean time does tend to fly by sometimes!

For those of you who asked about an August get-together, that too is in the works for either the 12th or the 19th and I'll keep you posted.

CUrchin - we'll just have to do something else when you reach in July - you're on my calendar!

Cheers!

OK, we are getting the usual suspects together for an August reunion...everyone is welcome...we want to do the T&T as well! Personally, I don't see how Anna can do all that food for $15pp, guess the liquor bill makes up for it !
