Yikes - don't know exactly what your message means...can you be a little more specific? I have a flight booked for July from Raleigh to Philly and then to STT. The one on the way back is through Charlotte. Should I be worried and do something to check and make sure my Philly one goes directly to STT?? Advice? and thanks.

I just checked my reservation and it has not changed. It still shows USAirways #1424 PHL->STT on 13 July, and USAirways #134 STT->PHL on 23 July. Looks like they are the only direct flights via PHL - were there more?

If the airlines website no longer shows a flight, it means it's sold out. If you have a reservation, you can check it online and it should show up as ccasebolt 's does.

That must be new because USAir use to show an X in the flight selector box when it was sold out, not the removal of the flight.

I just checked my reservation also. Mine HAS changed and now has me going through Charlotte both ways from RDU. Originally, it was Raleigh to Philly to STT, and the return was STT-Charlotte-Raleigh.
It's not the change I mind so much as the discourtesy of not being notified of the change. If I had not read this forum, I would not have know until much later! So thanks to all that we do indeed take the time to let each other know what's happening.

What was the flight # of your PHL-STT leg?

Yeow! Mine has also changed, also without notice. Had a non-stop from PHL to STT, now a connection. Only the outbound, the return is the same. Maybe they have just discontinued the direct flights on weekdays during the off-season, since our return is on a Sunday.

I assume The non stop flight is still running as I inserted dates for later in the year and flight 1424 was available. I didn't want to panic anyone, I just had never seen the flight pulled from the reservation board in the past, once full. I ended up booking USAir Philly to San Juan to ST Thomas. It was WAY cheaper than thru Charlotte.

Thanks for your reply. My flight from Philly to STT on July 5 WAS USAir 1424 departing at 9:30 a.m. and getting to STT at 1:21.

Now going throught Charlotte won't get there till 3:02...but still time to get some snorkeling in when I finally arrive in SJohn.

I believe 1424 is the only, once daily, non stop from Philly to STT.

Yowza! Trying to check with my TA to see if we just got screwed as well. We just booked a flight from PIT to PHL then on to STT last week after AA screwed us over by changing flight times. Now if we get our flight times messed up again!! I'm going to STJ for my wedding....I'm starting to wonder if this is a sign....not about getting married, but about getting married on STJ.

Just received confirmation that my flight through Philly is now going through Charlotte instead. We arrive in STT about an hour and a half later, but at least I get to sleep in a little.

Sunflower, I'm on the same flight a week after you - at least so far! I'm definitely going to keep my eye this, especially since we still have another ticket to buy (used FF miles for the one we aready have).

I am flying flight 1424 on May 14th, a Sunday and it is still showing non-stop. Boy, is that going to piss me off. We are getting married in ocean city, maryland and we decided to go with philly instead of bwi because of the non-stop....in addition, i booked a limo to take us at five am up to philly from ocean city that morning....my fiance works very much in the airports and she tells me that philly is having issues with the us air/america west merger....oh and not to mention that they are bankrupt and customer service is down the toilet.....wish us luck gang!!

deldog, we are in the same boat. going to Philly from Central NJ for the direct flight and having a limo take us as well. We don't travel until October though. Oh well .. will keep my fingers crossed that the direct flight doesn't change!

Good luck with your wedding! We are in the planning stages ourselves. Have a great honeymoon!

I just queried the USAirways timetable for the first week & 1/2 of July and here's what I found:

1 July (Sat) USAir #282 07:40A PHL-STT stops 0
1 July (Sat) USAir #1424 09:30A PHL-STT stops 0
2 July (Sun) USAir #1424 09:30A PHL-STT stops 0
3 July (Mon) no direct flight from PHL-STT
4 July (Tue) no direct flight from PHL-STT
5 July (Wed) no direct flight from PHL-STT
6 July (Thu) no direct flight from PHL-STT
7 July (Fri) no direct flight from PHL-STT
8 July (Sat) USAir #282 07:40A PHL-STT stops 0
8 July (Sat) USAir #1424 09:30A PHL-STT stops 0
9 July (Sun) USAir #1424 09:30A PHL-STT stops 0
10 July (Mon) USAir #1424 09:30A PHL-STT stops 0

For some reason they seem to have discontinued the non-stop flight from 7/3 thru 7/7 (?) Very strange! Will definitely keep my eye on this situation!!!

Most airlines, at least from the NE, don’t have mid-week non-stop service in the off season. We selected USAir because we were able to use points and the non-stop was just icing on the cake. When I called in a panic, they had already put us on another flight that stops in Charlotte (better there than San Juan, IMO). I was only upset because I had to find out about it on this board rather than being notified by the airline.

And to deldog’s comment — if you restrict yourself to only flying airlines that have never been in bankruptcy or part of a merger, I hope you enjoy Southwest!

American Airlines has done this same thing, getting rid of the non-stop flight that I originally booked on and we now have a stop in San Juan, ughhhh!! I agree with IslandTimer that the most upsetting part of it was not even being notified of the flight and time changes.

This is one reason I book through Travelocity. I get instant notification of flight changes and help rescheduling to fit MY needs/desires without paying extra.
