At Sapphire Resort and Marina, there's no full service restaurant only a small beach bar with a limited breakfast and lunch menu, but also serves blended adult beverages. Up the hill is Sapphire Grill which is a full service restaurant. They have a website.

Thank you ms411, although I'm a little confused still so don't mind me. Does this mean if you are anywhere on the grounds, say the beach front red roof section, that you can just walk up the hill and eat dinner there? I know that may sound like a dumb question but there are just so many contradicting posts going around it is confusing. Like some say if you are staying at the blue roof condos you cannot go to the pool over looking the beach, but yet some of the rental postings from blue roof condos show pictures of that pool and are saying you can use it? I guess the quickest way I had a question was no matter what condo you are in, if you are on the Sapphire grounds can you go to any pool or restuarant? If the answer is yes, then a lot of the forums out there need to be cleaned up. They make it sound like is you stay in x you can only swim or eat in y but yet everyone has access to the same beach? Just trying to clear things up to have another great trip. Thank you again.

The two restaurants are open to the public, not just to those staying at Sapphire. Only the pools have restrictions. Depending on which building you're in, the walk to the restaurant may be too long for some people especially since it's up a short hill, and with a drink or two it could be challenging.

If you want a fantastic pool, 2 beach bars, 2 casual restaurants, one formal restaurant and a beachfront condo or townhouse, stay at the Elysian / Cowpet Bay East. The beach itself isn't as nice as Sapphire but it is adequate. All depends on what matters most.

if you want a just a beachfront condo, sapphire beach resort and marina (rd roofs) is good choice.
If you want a condo at beachfront resort, sapphire beach resort and marina (red roofs) is poor choice.

to answer your question-, what's open? NOT MUCH no resurants, no bars, you or may not have to pay for chairs, a hamber cart is open select hours. You can always jump in your car and drive fro dinner and drinks. Or just cook at the condo.

Oh yeah, Elysian has free chairs, plenty of them, and there are trees to grab free shade. When a rainstorm comes up, it's nice to run to the Sangrias bar/sandwich shop to sit and eat and sip and have a good time. There also are hammocks on the beach. Can you tell I love that place??? There even is a 4 bedroom townhouse rental over in Cowpet Bay east -- just contact VIP rentals/Glenn Bevak and he will totally hook you up. We stayed there 10 days this past July/August and it was oceanfront right on the point .. absolutely gorgeous.

blu4u: As has been noted, the Sapphire Grill (and bar) in the Village is open for lunch and dinner - and for breakfast in season too. I guess when you speak of the "hamber cart" you;re referring to the Banana Cabana. They serve delicious sandwiches and cold beverages. Sapphire Grill also has beach runners to take food and beverage orders and Senor Pizza likewise.

Beach chairs are often included with the condo rental depending on the individual owner.

To further expand this a bit, The red roof buildings are called Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina. The blue roof building are Sapphire Village. They are entirely separate resorts. Guests may use the pools only of the resort in which they are guests. The pools at each location are not available to other visitors.

You will not go hungry or thirsty at either resort or on the beach. The Banana Cabana has a pub type menu with burgers, dogs, fish, salads, fries, and beer and drinks both blended and mixed. The Sapphire Grill located at Sapphire Village is open to the public. Both the grill and Cabana have wait staff to take orders and deliver on the beach. You do not have to get out of your beach chair if you don't want to. As STT Resident mentioned Senor Pizza can deliver pizza, also wings, garlic bread, cheese sticks, chicken fingers etc, and she is right on again that many of the units at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina include beach chairs, and beach towels with the rental, but best to ask when renting. The dive shop also sells beer and drinks

So you definitely will not pass out from hunger or thirst and for what it is the food is pretty good.

I wasn't aware that the bannana cabana had regular hours. or a dining area or a bar. I was under the impression that it was more of a take-out type lunch establishment.

Banana Cabana has a few chairs and tables near their prep area, and I sat there to cool off with a beverage. Very few people approached the bar/stand while I was there, because the waiter made frequent rounds to take orders at the beach. Either way you place your orders, though, I think it's kind of slow, because they're a tiny operation.

I prefer to get to Sapphire early, snorkel and enjoy the beach, and then have a relaxing meal at Sapphire Grill. Better menu, quicker service, and they usually broadcast cooking shows. It's as close to my idea of heaven I can get to while I'm still alive, LOL!

I know that at Sapphire we ordered drinks and food and over an hour later we went looking for the "bar boy" -- thinking he had taken off with our charge card. We finally did get our drinks, melted; got our hamburgers, overcooked and barely warm (and $7.50 each!). Would I go back to Sapphire? Of course, and we did! But we took our own packed lunch and our own booze to make our own drinks on the beach. Said it before and will say it again, the beach itself is beautiful, gorgeous, not to be missed. But take your own food and drinks with you. Stay at the Elysian or Cowpet Bay East and take day trips now and then to Sapphire, Trunk Bay (St. John), and do NOT miss the snorkel and sail trip on New Horizon's II 65 foot sailboat.

Other "resorts" to consider: Secret harbor, Blue Beards Beach Club, Marriots Moringstar, Bologo. All beach front, all have ammenties. Prices vary. No matter whre you stay, rent a car. Try different beaches, differnt resturants.

Secret Harbour has a beachfront restaurant on site (quite expensive) as well as a more casual bar which also serves food. The beach is beautiful and (like Sapphire) boasts very good snorkeling. Reservations are made through the hotel's own management. Unlike Sapphire where, if you rent through vrbo or similar and a private owner you can pick the unit best suited to you, this you can't do at Secret Harbour other than pick the general location.

Bluebeard's Beach Club is now owned by the Wyndham Group and is a lovely spot but there is no restaurant on site. I know several people who stay there on a regular basis and they love the peace and quiet of the place.

The Marriott Morningstar units are located right on the beach which is shared with the Marriott Frenchman's Reef hotel and with whom they share activities. The beach is OK but not in the class of either Sapphire or Secret Harbour. The units do not have kitchens. On the opposite side of the Reef is the new Frenchman's Cove condo complex set back from a small man-made beach. There is one high-end and very expensive restaurant on the Morningstar Beach (Havana Blue) and a couple of small casual restaurant/bars on site also.

Bolongo Bay resort is a quite rocky beach (the dive shop there sells swimming booties to take care of that problem). They have a full complement of water sports and offer an all inclusive plan which includes use of all the beach toys. There are two restaurants on site; the accommodations are clean but very basic (no kitchens).

In my opinion, the best bang for the buck is Sapphire and, no, I've no financial stake in it at all! 😀

Sugar Bay resort on the East end is another all inclusive option. Very nice location and well-kept. Very small beach but within easy reach of the best beaches on the East end (Coki, Sapphire, Smith Bay Park and Secret Harbour).

Both the above mentioned resturaunts share ownership.
Havana Blue is comparable in quality to any up-scale restruant in NYC. In fact Havana Blue is my favorite 'special night out" on STT. Enjoy.

I like some of those locations. Coki was a nice beach but it was a little unnerving since where we were sitting was up near the concessions/bathrooms and in the covered pavillion right behind us a bunch of young locals were hanging out smoking dope. That is US Virgini Islands so I'm pretty sure that wasn't legal. I don't care, don't get me wrong. But it just made us a little nervous. Some of the locals told us flat out to avoid Smith Bay. Again, I am no expert, just another tourist, relying on what I am told or what I see.

I'm curious as to why people told you to avoid Smith Bay. I've only been to STT once so certainly didn't make it to all of the beaches, but Smith Bay was hands down my absolute favorite!

Smith bay Park--the former Lindquist beach, is very nice--a top 10 STT beach. Here's the back story--years ago, before Magen Bay Authotiy (the entity which manages the beach/parking/etc) took over, the beach "vibe" was dicey. I wouldn't go alone. But now, the vibe has totaly changed to "family friend;y". Smith Bay--the town, still has a sketchy reputation and so does Cokki. Don't get me wrong, Some folks enjoy the "party-vibe" at Cokki. I don't. Howver, the nieghboring Coral World is worth a visit. Coral world is well maintained and provides safe parking.

We were told that was a rough area with a lot of crime. I can't know if it's true, but since someone said it to us we avoided the area. I think Coki was close to that area if I'm not mistaken. But I could be wrong about that.
