Water Island Beaches Honeymoon Bay

Honeymoon Bay

Honeymoon Bay
Honeymoon Beach is a pretty, white sand beach. The shore is lined with palm trees. Small palm frond umbrella huts offer shade and there is a shed on the beach. The beach is typically surf free and deepens gradually so is perfect for small children. The crystal clear water is inviting and offers fair snorkeling. The beach is usually sparsely populated on weekdays except for a couple hours in the afternoon when a boat charter stops in. It is a favorite for residents on weekends, particularly on Sundays.

Beautifull Beach

Honeymoon Beach is absolutely beautifull and very clean. We enjoyed good snorkeling in the clear blue water, and the warm sun as we had a ice cold bushwacker from Joe's Beach Bar and a huge cheese burger from Heidi's. The beach is also a wonderfull safe place for children to run, play, and meet other local kids.

Great family Beach

There were 13 total (women and children - (2) 5 yr, (1) 8 yr, (1) 12 yr old) in our crew. We enjoyed Honeymoon Beach/Water Island for 2 days and found it perfect for us. Honeymoon is very calm. Most of the people in my crew either did not know how to swim or were novice swimmers. The calm, clear, shallow waters of Honeymoon is a perfect environment for people with little to no water skills. The children jumped out of the truck and into the water on the shoreline upon arrival (~10:00 a.m.) and we had to drag their "pruney" bodies out of the water in the mid-afternoon - they had so much fun. The 12 year old learned how to snorkel on Honeymoon Beach. The ladies set up "command center" under a palapa, coconut trees (trees are maintained regularly so no danger of falling coconuts) and next to picnic table. We brought our beach chairs, sand toys, rafts, towels and cooler with drinks. We bought lunch from Heidi Honeymoon Grill (burgers, chicken ceasar salad, sausage, hot dog) and some bought a slice or two from the Pizza Boat that pulls up to the beach each day. A couple of the ladies shared a raft and paddled out to the swim platform. The swim area is marked off by buoys and boats are kept at the perimeter. Uncrowded beach which the mothers found made it easier to keep track of their children and all of us found a great environment to talk, laugh, read a book, and relax.

Nice sandy beach, great drinks!

If this is the beach I'm thinking of.....Brad Pitt filmed part of The Mysterious Case of Benjamin Button here. This is a very nice calm beach. Not crowded at all. There is a bar on the beach. They mix great drinks!

Relaxing Afternoon

After hiking around Water Island for a few hours we were looking forward to a refreshing swim at Honeymoon. And we got it. It was a holiday and there were maybe two dozen people on the beach. The water was super calm and clear. Lots of palm trees along the shore, beautiful. Had a couple cold drinks from the beach bar. Terrific and relaxing afternoon.
