Main Street or Dronningens Gade (Danish name meaning Queen’s Street) is the main street running through Charlotte Amalie. The buildings on the south side of Main Street are long, separated by narrow alleys. These were warehouses for storing goods during the heyday of trade. On the north side are a collection of 18th and 19th century classic West Indian buildings and former town houses. The buildings are square in shape and many are two stories with balconies. In the past the first floor housed shops; the second floor would have been the shop keeper’s residence. Today many of these old buildings are repurposed as duty free shops.

i am the niece of a former resident , business owner, & resident of StThomas . i visited him there in the early 1960s   his name was Henry Mendez; wife Alice . Thry owned the #7 Queens Qearters restaurant. Im searching for photos ets to help me remember my visit there in the 60s. Your photo of Main St was the closest thing I've discoverd yet.  i did find a pink, old menu on ebay a few years ago  along with a photo of Bay Breeze Villa, which appears to be a renevated house in the found, that my uncle built as his residence years ago as i'm, trying to gather some info to ptrpare for a trip  to St Thomas. If there is anything or anyone whom can give me some answers, I'd love to connect with them
