We are shortly coming on a cruise and will spend 1 day on your lovely island.

A tour of the synagogue is always nice. I don't know if your mom is up to a trek but the sights at 99 steps are great one. Or just wander around town, stop by a local restaurant for lunch, visit some of the art galleries/stores.

Naturally a trip to the beach is highly recommended. You might want to try someplace like secret harbor where you can hang out at the beach then do a nice lunch before a leisurely trip to town. If you or your mom are into shopping Yacht Haven Grande has some great shops, some incredible yachts to gawk out and nice guys in golf carts who will give your mom a ride if she gets too tired.

The butterfly farm is nearby and is worth the trip. Or, heck, you can both get tattoos.

What sort of "experience" were you looking for. We might be able to help a little more if we knew what you liked to do/see.

A bit of research done and Im thinkimg of a conbo 1.5hr bus tour and couple of hours at the beach followed by a sunset champagne cruise. Whch is the nicest beach for smimming, watersports and a lunch?

Sunset cruise? How long is your ship in port?

Sounds like a full day. Like islandgirl stated you may want to check to see when they want you back on the ship. Usually it's by 6pm. Nice place for lunch is the Greenhouse, which is fairly close to where the ships dock.

See if the cruise ship can help you with taking a ferry over to St. John and sightseeing there: a drive around the island--the views are spectacular there and a stop at a beach. They are the most beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. I know cruise ships do tours there because when we go to St. John we read the paper in order to avoid certain beaches when the cruise ship people are there because those beaches are much busier on those days. It's my favorite place in the world. You could probably rent a car yourself and with map and advice do it on your own. Cool Breeze Jeep/Car Rental is very helpful and close to the ferry dock. But, there are also many other agencies. We have rented from them the last 6 years. If you are adventuresome, this might be the way to go. Good Luck and enjoy. The only day of the year that I know is difficult to get over there is the 4th of July. Many people from St. Thomas go over for celebrations and it can take longer to get a ferry.
