Does anyone have any suggestions on a place to stay for one night? We are spending a week at a villa in St John in April 2008 but are staying 1 night on St Thomas first. The places I've found that weren't too expensive got some pretty nasty reviews and the others are pretty pricey. Anyone have any ideas for us? Thanks....Cindy

We have stayed at the Mafolie several times for one or two days prior to going to St John and or a boat charter. www.mafolie.com

They are an older family owned hotel. Not new but with character. Great restaurant with million dollar views. Even when we don't stay there we usually eat there.

I have a studio which is $80/night with a pool, view and kitchenette. Look at www.stthomasvirginisland.com

For convenience to the Red Hook ferry you might want to check out Secret Harbour Resort. Nice clean rooms, nice beach, beach bar, restaurant on site and only a very short cab ride to the ferry.

My friends from Indiana staying with us on Water Island/Flamingo Point Estate had the first flight back to Indianapolis early, early in the a.m. They stayed at Crystal Palace the night before their flight and had all wonderful things to say about the accomodations and Ronnie's hospitality. The location, room and the furnishings are perfect and best of all, Ronnie is the most helpful and friendly guy who extends a helping hand and guidance to his guests.

Thanks everyone. I posted this yesterday and couldn't find it this morning. Now
all of a sudden it's back. I don't know what I was doing but thanks for the help.

Try Crystal Palace for a bit of old St Thomas. The owner and host is a great guy.

He will even read island pirate stories to you. That and a couple of drinks will put you to sleep.

It's a must place to stay.
