Hi to all,

Thinking about a St. John's vacation as I hear it is a beautiful island. Love to be on or real close to the beach and also like to be near dining and shops. NI do not think we are interested in staying in Cruz Bay as it seems like it might be too busy for our taste.

Interested in knowing what different parts of the island offer and which parts would be recommended based on my thoughts above. Also looking for reasonable priced accommodations for 2.

Thanks for your suggestions and a happy and healthy New Year to all.

Serenity 🙂

At or near the beach is going to be a problem. Search for Calabash Cottages. They are high in the hills, have wonderful views and the price is right. Perfect for 2.

What time of year and what is your budget? Reasonable can be very different for many people. There are many options all over the island but those are 2 things we need to know before being able to really make any suggestions.

Also, there is no "s" on St. John. St. Johns is on Antigua, so it really does make a difference 🙂

Serenity-

I was just in St. John this past Thanksgiving holiday and posted photos from my time there at www.sunshinelobster.com which is a blog I created to highlight my travels to the Virgin Islands and elsewhere. I think you will get a good idea of some of the great beaches and venues there. You'll love St. John.

Look at vrbo (vacation rental by owner)...Easy to find places with good and great views but not usually close to the beach. I always like to be right on a beach if possible, but St. John is the exception. It is soooo beautiful that I don't worry about being close to the beach since the views are so wonderful. Also, look at book-it vi.

You could look into coconut coast villas (www.coconutcoast.com), I stayed there a couple of trips ago and enjoyed it. Owners are great, short walk to downtown.
