beckymac52,
Christmas is celebrated on St Croix as well as 3 Kings day, Remember the 3 men that followed the star to where Baby Jesus was born.

Would three kings day be the same as Epiphany, January 6th or 12th day of Christmas?

Becky: Christmas IS celebrated in a big way. But unlike the states where you take your tree down on New Years Day, we leave it up until Three Kings Day- the official end of the Christmas holidays. It is also the end of the Crucian Festival.

This is very interesting to learn about the 3 Kings celebration on St. Croix. Growing up, we called the feast of the Epiphany (January 6) "Little Christmas", left our decorations up and always had three little gifts for each person to celebrate the gifts brought by the 3 Kings. My mom would not put the figurines of the 3 Kings up with the rest of the creche until the 6th - she actually set them apart from the rest of the manger as if the kings were still on their way. Celebrating "Little Christmas" was always special and made the magic of Christmas last a bit longer. It's funny now to be practically the only house on the block that keeps the decorations lighted until January 6. We are trying to keep Little Christmas alive by taking that day to exchange gifts with our friends once the hectic holidays are over We took our first to STX this past April and really loved it - we are going to have to get there for the 3 Kings celebration one year!

Margie,
Fret no more! 2008 will be the year that the US will be introduced to Three Kings Day, due to all of the other cultures that live here now . . . consider yourself a visionist and forerunner, and hold your head high as you burn your lights. This is my first year keeping my decorations out and lit. Carmen

Ah, hah! My tree is still up-I cannot give up the sweet evergreen smell! Tomorrow it comes down and Christmas season will be over and it will be time to prepare for Lent! 🙂

Happy Three King's Day everyone!
