I am going to st. thomas for 8 days in May and I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend while there. We are both mid 20's and are looking to get the most out of our time on the island....and I need help planning !! We would like to have a modest budjet, nothing too too expensive, and still like to go to the bars maybe every other night( I hear Duffy's is good). We are staying in point pleasant, and I would also like to go to St. John for a day. And the big one is I am also planning on proposing while in St. Thomas. I know that I am asking for alot of advise, but you all seem to be very helpful on this message board and I could use any advise I could get. Thanks so much.

So maybe we all could suggest a "scenic spot" where you might actually pop the question? Would that be of interest to you, or do you already know where you will propose?

I have no idea where yet, a scenic spot (yet someplace safe) would be perfect.

Firstie: Do you know where you are staying? That might give us some ideas. I think over a sunset cocktail or glass of champagne might be nice? Your toes in the water, cool breeze blowing through your hair...

Ah to be young again!!

Congrats you romantic guy you! You can't go wrong down in the VIs, just find a great beach, wait for the sun to drop and get on your knee. I noted your intention to go to Duffy's . The only Duffy's I know of was on STJ and STT- note I said was, the one on STJ recently became something else and they told us (early Nov) that the one on STT was about to close. Its a pretty basic place anyway, you'll find better. Good luck with the proposal.

How romantic! Pack a bottle of champagne & glasses in your backpack - along with the ring, of course and head off to Cinnamon Bay or Trunk Bay at sunset (not only a gorgeous view, but the cruise ship people and sun bathers will be gone - You should be able to find an secluded area at either at sunset. Oh - another good idea - Captain Phil (Wayward Sailor) will take you on a sunset sail - just the two of you and you could propose on the water... oh, that would be good too! Of course, as you can tell I am partial to St. John.... Let us know how it goes and Congratulations - how could she not say yes to that !!! 🙂

I hear that the sunsets out on Peterborg are beautiful. Anybody else been there?

You can go to the very tip of Peterborg where there are the old foundations of some houses (There's even a swimming pool that's full of grafiti) and a whole lot of garbage. The homes there are phenomenal, but as far as enjoying Peterborg for it natural beauty...well....I'm not so sure about that. Might as well just go to Magen's Bay.
Personally, I think you should go parasailing and propose 600 feet up in the air hovering over the Caribbean. How often do you think that happens?

I am picturing a beautiful engagement ring falling "oh so slowly" to the lovely Carribean sea.

I can see why your "name" speaks of disaster! LOL

I vote for a sunset sail or secluded beach spot.

LOL Sue... I was thinking the exact same thing when reading kate's suggestion. Two people with their mouths hanging open... looking down with the ring slowly tumbling towards the sea as a pelican flies by and scoops it up in it's mouth. We could do a movie about this!

crickett : )
