how easy is it to ge to "the Baths", again on a small budget?

where is a good place to on a sunday night to get a good feel for the island. My friends and i will be looking for a bar and good food. any suggestions?

Two weeks!! Am I ever jealous! I have 4 months to go...

There's a ferry from Cruz Bay to JVD, weekends only I think. Check out the ferry link above for schedule and fares. You can also ferry from STJ to Tortola and Tortola to Virgin Gorda (Baths) as there's no direct ferry. You can also hire a charter, but that's more $$$.

I'd try Woody's (Cruz Bay) for an island intro - it's always our first stop for conch fritters and a painkiller.

Did I mention how jealous I am? Have a blast!

You can get to Jost Van Dyke and The Baths on one trip with a motor boat tour called New Horizons II. They leave from St. Thomas but I believe they have pick up on St. John. Here is the web site:
http://newhorizonscharters.com/

It will cost you about $135(internet rate) plus $20 for customs plus gratuity and your lunch. See Bill's trip report he just did this one posted March 5th. Call to reserve this right away! (If you happen to rent your car from Budget on St.Thomas for the week you get a coupon book that will save a couple $50 on this trip.) You will have a guide at both places which may be better than going it on your own taking the ferry. A ferry to Jost Van Dyke ($50 per person) would take up one day and the ferry to Virgin Gorda ( $60 per person plus taxi money back and forth to the Baths) would take up another day. I would say pay the extra money and go with the guided tour.

I have a note that The Beach Bar on Sunday nights starting at 4p has a great jazz band called Steve Simon and the Islanders.Watch the sunset from the only bar on the beach. Open every day from 11 – 10.

Have a great time. My first trip is still 4 weeks and 4 days away.
