I am stumped, but need to make a decison. Looking to my fellow VI lovers for HONEST opinions about what YOU would do.

Y'all know I like to go down to the VI in February and in the summer. Feb trip is normally 1 wk and summer is 2.

Last Feb, trip was lovely and action packed- but did seem a little short (6 nts). I found myself counting down each day. In Feb, I travel w/my young daughter, but we have a few good friends on STT. She misses a few days of school, no biggies since I schedule around President's Day.

This year, we've been invited to stay in a friend's home.....free of charge. Kind of housesitting. So, no money spend of accomodations. We only pay for airfare.

I have already booked air...for 7 nights. Anything otherwise was mucho expensive or didn't work out with times, etc.

I have recently checked airfare and found that I can add 2 more nights to my stay for the SAME airfare price....but I have to pay $100 change fee per ticket. Again, accomodations are free and flexible...so no extra charge there.

And, the extra days are days that my daughter has off from school...so no more school lost and virtually no more work lost for me.

So, the ONLY downside to changing is the $100 change fee ter ticket - at 2 tickets. Tickets were $389 - plus tax, each.

Would you do it for 2 more nights? Please weight in. I have been mulling this over for 2 nights and cannot decide. I am afraid that the fare will soon increase - so I need to make a decision.

Also, if I change, we will get a non-stop both ways....going and on the return. Right now, I only have a non-stop on the departure, but a layover on the return.

What would YOU do? Concensus will decide!

Thanks all!

Blu - COME ON! You're saving money as it is without the housing expense! Someone much smarter than me once said:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you
didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away
from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.
Discover." - Mark Twain

You already know what to do......stay the extra days. Look at it this way, if a genie in a bottle said to you " 2 days in the Virgin Islands for $200 please. You'd say Oh hell yeah.

Enjoy, you fortunate Lady

Hi guys. Thank you all for your advice. Duh! Right?

The price of the tickets is flip-flopping right now......so I still haven't booked extra nights. After much thought, I'm ok either way. If the price of the airfare drops down to my original fare, I'll pay the change fee and book the additional nights. If not, I'll get home a day earlier and have one day to hang out at home before returning to work.

Can't wait to get down there and say hello to everyone, hang out at Indigo, enjoy breakfast on Magen's Bay, dinner at Rhumblines on STJ, mojitos with Sherry, a trip to the Baths, etc...

Thank goodness there are some great trip reports on line these days. It helps me contain myself as I wait.

Thanks again everyone!

Hi Gang.

Since you were all so kind to post messages in support of lengthening my visit, just wanted to share that I did just that. 2 more nights! The air had gone up....but then came back down.....

Thanks again everyone. I know it seemed like a silly question....but I really wasn't sure and just wanted to know what someone else would do.

Oh, Allan.....DO you feel teased? Awww.....poor baby. 🙂
