*Good Morning,
I will be flying in to St. Thomas in a couple of weeks and then going over to St. Johns Camp Ground. I have found the Ferry Schedule but am not sure of the embarcation places and how to get to the ferry from the airport and back again. Are there shuttle services?
Your help will be appreciated.

Valerie,
The ferrys to St. John depart from both downtown Charlotte Amalie and Redhook. Just pick up your stuff, and the taxis line up at the curb outside the baggage claim area at the airport. The driver will know which place to take you to catch the next departure. It sounds complicated but it's no problem at all.

How long is the Taxi ride from the Airport to Red Hook Bay dock?
Also, might you know the approximate cost?
Thanks again!

Valerie - It is approximately a 35 minute trip from the airport to Red Hook. I recall it is about $11-$12 pp without tip.

Have fun!

Airport to Redhook is $13.00 for a single person, $9.00 for two or more people minus tip.

There's a $1.00 per bag (after the first one) fee which is added on top of the price.

All from the Vinow homepage links. 🙂

What about bags that we carry ourselves? Is the $1.00 a bag just for suitcases? If we have 4 people and only one suitcase per person, is there an extra charge for suitcases?

It's all up to negociation between the driver and you. He can charge up to $4 for a bag, depending on size, and even $30 for a pet carrier!

Valerie, if you're going to Maho Bay Campground, make sure you check with the campground about their shuttle service to and from Cruz Bay- you won't need a taxi if they still run a shuttle back and forth from the town. It'll save you some $ and is a great way to meet other campers. If you're staying at Cinnamon Bay, that I don't know about.
