Just wanted to send some info out to my fellow travelers.

I just went out online last nite to check a reservation that I had made from Boston to STT departing on April 22, 2006.

I was surprised to see that my non-stop flight that was to arrive in STT at around 11:30 was changed to a flight that was departing Boston 2 hours later, changing planes in San Juan & arriving in STT around 3:00.

Needless, to say, I cancelled, as I did not want to arrive that late in the day.

I had received no notification from the airline regarding the change & would not have known about it, had I not gone on-line to check.

So, I just thought that anyone else with a Non-stop departure from Logan on a Saturday might want to check on it to be sure that all is still well.

FYI: Apparently Friday & Sunday non-stops have not been changed. So, we ended up asking for an extra day off & are now leaving on Friday, instead of Sat. The flight doesn't arrive on STT til 1:30 -but, it is still non-stop & we will be getting virtually an extra day.

We just hope that it doesn't change again.

Never a dull moment!

We had something similar happen- we're going out of Boston via AA, had a stop in Phili but were due to leave at 5AM or so and be in STT by 1PM I think. We did get a notice via email of a change and now land about 4PM. We're sticking with it as we can't leave on the Friday- so we get to sleep a tiny bit later but now risk (if the plane is late) getting there in the dark. We now have Plan B to fall back on (stay over on STT before heading to our beloved STJ in the AM) but aren't happy about it. The explanation they gave my husband is that they're cutting back on some flights and merging with others due to this and that shortage. I guess we're "fortunate" that at least we were notified but now I'll be really diligent about checking for updates in case they miss one! Hopefully I'm worrying too much as usual!

Just curious - what month are you flying?

We leave Nov 5th for a week, it'll be our fourth trip to STJ over the last 20 years- we cannot wait! Previously, we went in either March or May for various reasons.

Have a wonderful trip! It will arrive before you know it.

This will be our second trip (in 2 years)to the US Virgin Islands. First time staying on St. John. We were so thrilled with our 1 day visit to St. John this past April - that we have now made it our "home base" for trip #2.

I will hope that any further changes to your reservations will just be on the positive side!!

Take Care!

FYI - another decent option out of Boston is US Airways flight #1424; departing BOS at 7:30A, direct thru PHL with no plane change, arriving STT at 2:59. There's a similar return (#1481) departing STT at 4:15P; direct (no change) thru PHL, arriving BOS at 11:13P - I've got my eye on these for next July 🙂 Granted they aren't non-stop flights, but by staying on the same craft at least you don't have to worry about missing a connection (usually).

United Airlines has a good flight out of Boston that we are taking on October 15. It leaves Boston at 6am with a stop in Washington DC (Dulles) and arriving in St. Thomas at 12:22. That was the best flight we could find that would get us there before late afternoon/early evening. Let's hope they don't change our flight too!

It's a good idea for EVERYONE to check flights every once in a while. American changed my flight number (out of St. Louis) and I didn't find out about it until I was comparing flights with another Message Board user!

Don't feel too bad American did this to us this past June without informing us. It was only after I called about something & they told me they changed the flight number & time which was unacceptable to us. She told me tough & hung up. I called back & talked to a superivsor & told her since I booked this through American Flyaway vacations I would just cancel my trip which I could do. They had my email & my phone number as well. She went through loops to get it right but could not asign us seats for the trip back. We had to get to St Thomas airport three hours beforehand to get seats, no calling as it didn't do any good. Well the flight was delayed & almost didn't take off & AA wouldn't put the people up at hotels due to their error. My husband was really sick the day we left & sat there with 102 temp. so he wasn't a happy camper. I am not sure if we would take another AA trip but not much out there. USAIr has the better connections than Miami or San Juan but their attitude is almost the same as AA. But oh well. Have fun I am going down in November for 4 nights & 5 days with USAIR & hoping for the best.

Correction - the PHL flight arrives at 1:59, not 2:59. The earlier, the better 🙂
