My wife and I are coming to SJ for a few days to enjoy some rest and relaxation away from our lovely but sometimes mentally/physically taxing 2 year old twins. This will be our first real vacation alone in 2 years and we are really looking forward to it.

It has been tough for find a private rental villa for under $300/nt for only 4-5 days but one place I found availability was Villa Cielomar. It appears to be pretty close to Cruz Bay and looks fairly nice from the pictures. www.villacielomar.com

Has anyone heard anything good/bad about this villa?

Thanks,
Eric J.

Hi Eric,

We haven't stayed at Villa Cielomar, so take my comments with that caveat.

Based on one of the pictures, it appears you'd be perched on the part of the hill NOT looking out over Cruz Bay, but rather over... I'm not sure what it is. I think it's a sanitation plant or water treatment plant or something like that, which has been under construction for the past few years (any more knowledgable visitors or residents, feel free to correct me here!). This might not be terrible, but it's not going to be "The Perfect View" imo.

The villa itself does look nice based on the pictures. Hopefully someone else here can give you more specific feedback.

Eric,
We have booked Villa Cielomar also. I have searched high and low for reviews of it on the internet. What I have found is the following: it is clean and well appointed, the shared pool is very nice and it has privacy from the other villas with which is shares a pool. The other 3 villas are connected to each other. The negative is that the porch/patio is small and it does not have a view. Our experience so far is that the owner/manager is very easy to work with.

From reading through pages and pages of three VI forums I have come to the conclusion that it is all a matter of what you are looking for. The view may not be "to die for" but you will be spending time together without kids and there's no better place to do that than STJ.
